So the college buddies hatched a plan. They made up a fictitious professional organization and called it the National Association of Collegiate Basketball Writers. They then created an All-America team of their very own, naming the top 15 rookie players in the nation.

Truly a classic. Glad that I get to read these kind of stories from time to time. Amidst all these stories of scandal and fraud in collegiate athletics, it's nice to know that some of it was in humor and jest, and not to further corrupt a system that's already corrupted.

I can totally see that happening today with all the lazy journalism out there. There would need to be a lot more internet evidence constructed by the perpetrators perhaps.

If they put that much effort into it, is it really a fraud? What makes a 3rd party award legitimate?
