Scoring is based on:
Fibonacci (2-3-5-8-13-21) - A nicely balanced scoring system based on a famous mathematical progression. Slightly favors getting earlier picks correct versus later picks.

Fun exercise doing Blindfold Brackets (http://projects.wsj.com/blindfold-brackets-2013/?mod=quicklinks_blindfold).
Apparently I like Belmont and Bucknell as the double-digit seed Sweet Sixteen teams. Picked Kansas over Ohio State in final, with Indiana and Saint Louis(!) also in Final Four.

Oh my lord, I just did this...and put Pittsburgh in the Final Four. WHAT?!

Go . . . Gonzaga.
Weird. That's who I picked in the XH poll.

I have Florida over Pittsburgh in the championship game. If I hadn't seen Florida melt down several times (Mizzou, Kentucky, Ole Miss), I might be inclined to actually pick them.

Wow...My Final Four teams were SLU, Gonzaga, Florida, and Indiana with SLU beating Florida in the championship.

My Final Four was SLU, Iowa St., San Diego State, and Indiana with Indiana over SLU for the Championship. If this comes true and SLU makes it to the championship game before we do, I'm not sure I"ll be able to handle it.

In the blind taste test I've got Duke, Gonzaga, Florida and Indiana in the FF with Gonzaga over Indiana to take it all.

Indiana over Gonzaga in the finals. Kansas and SLU(!) as the other Final Four teams. Bucknell makes a Sweet 16 run, helped by only having to face Davidson and not Marquette in the second (third?) round.

Why favor earlier picks over later picks?
I have Florida beating Louisville in the final.

eh... just to add some spice. I've always wanted to do a fibonacci pool. I'd rather try my hand at one with no $ on the line first?
Lot's of self-serving reasons I guess.

For what it's worth, I've got the Bucknell/Davidson game in most of my real (but for purely entertainment purposes) pools, although I have Davidson making the Sweet 16.

Pittsburgh - Pomeroy rating #8. Way to show up.
Florida is #1 in Pomeroy. We shall see.

I use pomery all the time, and a ton when it comes to March Madness. However, I don't necessarily look at his rankings. Instead I look at his adjusted offensive and defensive rankings. I think that those are much more telling. Especially because when it comes to certain teams, I favor defense over offense, or the other way around. So, I guess what I'm saying is, I don't look at it as the rule, but look at it for guidance.

Impressive. Scientific Discipline.
Cheers to ByC.

I didn't get around to entering this year, and it's a damn good thing. The one bracket I filled out this year is in total shambles. Lost two final four teams in the first round, and I'm going to be under 50% on the sweet 16. I picked a good year to sit out.

I really suck on this bracket.
Maybe I'm closer to the top on Mother Cooley XU'81's 8th Grade Homeroom Bracket.
I'll let you know.

Some FGCU fans just got their wish. Florida v. FGCU. Totally nuts.

My office pool is comical. Out of about 300 people, I am in front of 5 of them, and I'm pretty sure two of those are some guy's grandkids picks.
If every game from here out goes exactly my way (including FGCU in the final four), I can rise to 62nd.
I am so awesome.

Don't feel bad. My 4 year old is in first place in two of the pools we entered. She correctly picked FGCU to play Florida. Why? Because Mickey Mouse lives in Florida and we're going to the Gulf Coast for vacation this summer. She also picked Wichita State because it sounds like witch and her birthday is in October, near Halloween when we decorate with witches. I have all kinds of these little anecdotes for every team she picked. And as she was picking these teams, I was all "There's no way Harvard is going to beat New Mexico, but okay if that's the team you really want to pick!" Good thing she didn't listen.

Thanks! She's pretty happy to be beating mom and dad. If she wins the one pool, she'll win $400, which is good because she'll need it to attend one of these universities some day

Is Warren Buffett offering a billion dollar bounty again this year? I haven't heard about it if so. I got the first 13 right and started spending the money. Thankfully I was able to reverse all charges when my run ended late Thursday night.
