Cronin can lost to a new Big East team already. No matter what you think of Creighton, gotta root for them!

St. Louis gets New Mexico St, - don't know what to think about that.

Libery does go to dump as preidcted, then gets slaughtered by Louisville.

And I just lost my chain of thought when they said "Cincinnati can't score"

They just picked Creighton over U.C.

I don't know what to make of SLU. Guess we'll see.

Crean has to be smarting. Thanks to his coaching... he blew a chance at Lexington and then Indy.

How about Oregon as a 12 seed. If they didn't win the auto-bid they may not have gotten in..

St. Louis vs Sim Bhullar.

Muskie
03-17-2013, 06:22 PM
Say what you want about going to the Big East. I'm still pretty impressed we played in a conference with two teams that were a 4 and 5 seed respectively. I think we forget sometimes the A-10 has provided us good competition.

well, 3/4 of the bracket is displayed.

I'm happy to see the strong A10 representation - not so happy seeing that we aren't part of that.

St Louis/VCU/Butler/Temple thus far. VCU gets a gift with Akron.

Anyone else liking Belmont over Arizona?

It sucks not to be in. But I love the representation by the A10.

I'm not going to lie. With 5 teams in and a fun conference tourney in Brooklyn, it would be bittersweet to leave the conference now. It's never been in better shape.

Not 100% convinced Belmont can win, but I wouldn't be shocked. When AZ was up near the top of the rankings I said they were highly overrated. Look at their schedule and you'll see a team that didn't prove anything other than the fact that it can beat middle of the road teams and contend in an average conference.

But remember, with teams like Xavier, Butler and Temple on their way out, the top of the A10 is going to take a hit. Hell, with the top falling off, Dayton may manage to work its way up to middle-of-the-pack!

Don't forget about Mark Lyons and how poorly he played in three March campaigns with X. When he plays poorly Arizona is very beatable.

I realize he can't say anything and he never would anyway, but would've been cool if he made the announcement right then with everyone watching.

Who would have ever thought...Bobo is the selection committee chair, the A-10 sends five teams, and X isn't one of them. For the first time in 8 years. Sigh. X beat a 4 seed but lost to a 15. It was that kind of year.

I think it also shows that X wasn't far off from being in this thing. If they closed things out better early in the season and didn't have some late-game collapses, they're probably dancing. But that's one of the problems with inexperienced teams...they don't know how to win. It's something they have to learn and I think they did by the end of the season. They weren't perfect, as we saw Thursday, but they were definitely improved.

Look at some of the wins on our resume: Butler, SLU, Memphis. And we pissed one away against VCU. The big problem for X was the bad losses and, ultimately, that's what did us in.

I thought the reporter thought maybe he would catch Mike off guard, nope - sticking to the party line. But I like the "I can't confirm that" then he caught himself and went into party line mode.

Not the right place or time, but give the reporter a "Nice Try" award.

Apparently you haven't paid attention to the national media. It seems that the Mark Lyons Arizona has is some new kid who is just amazing - should be an NBA All-Star! He's nothing like the Lyons that played at X for three years despite the fact that his numbers are incredibly similar to that Lyons' 2011-12 stats, even though this new Lyons played what can be argued was an easier schedule. You need to pay more attention to the talking heads, man.

It sucked not seeing Xavier up on that screen.

I will now transfer all of my good wishes and cheers to Creighton, followed by Georgetown, Villanova, VCU, and if all else fails, Butler and SLU - just because the fans of those two teams are wildly obnoxious. Not dayton obnoxious, but close.

Never been so happy and so sad at the same time about College Basketball. Excited for my Alma Mater the Billikens and their 4 seed, excited that I'm going to Vegas for March Madness, but disappointed that Xavier missed the NCAA tourney and the NIT. Ugh.

Just a thought. Do you think between being head of the NCAA, Big East realignment talks, and his job transfer that Bobo didn't spend much time on the NIT front and that could've hurt us a bit?

Appreciated. SLU is a team that is just really solid has no one star necessarily and plays bball really hard and with good discipline. I know some on here probably dont like SLU cause they have idiot fans on a message board but I'm hoping Xavier fans will be pulling for their fellow conference mate and hopefully future conference mate.

The SLU players have been through a lot with the passing of Rick Majerus and I really feel great for them and their success. Hoping they make a deep tourney run!

Before I comment, I must say that I love Mark Lyons. As for this post, what national media are you talking about? I have not seen one thing in regards to him being an "NBA All Star" In fact, I haven't seen one thing that mentioned how he is doing so much better now than while at Xavier. Please show me where you found this stuff, because I would love to see some National media talking about a former Xavier player like that.

It is a bit farfetched, I know, but do you really think Bobo was lobbying at all for the NIT? Probably not. And maybe rightfully so. And I admit his other priorities are more important, but I don't think it is ridiculous to assume Xavier may have been put a bit on the backburner.

All I've seen is many Arizona fans completely ripping Mark at the end of the year. Most wish they would have let their younger point guard play instead of having Lyons (who they complain about being all about himself). They say after a man gets past Mark he will just stand around and shut down defensively. They of course hate his attitude. Towards the end of the year he has played terrible (hence the 6 seed) when they were ranked as high as 5. Most can't wait til he's gone.
