Apparently Tom Crean dislikes other coaches besides Chris Mack. Link (http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/11/video-tom-crean-to-current-um-former-iu-coach-you-wrecked-our-program/)

Crean is a taller, less yellow-toothed Mick Cronin.

IU seems like a great pick to win the tournament, except, you know, Tom Crean is their coach.

Word is that Meyer told Crean to F himself when they were going through the line. Crean initially walked away but then came back.

And admittedly more talented as a coach. He's still a douche. I really don't care about the stuff with Mack, whatever involves, especially since negative recruiting is part of the game, but that was just classless.

Crean is so stupid. He should be thanking that guy for giving him an opportunity to coach at Indiana.

I was going to post something along these lines before seeing that you had already mentioned it.

I think that Tom Crean is just a dick in general, which is why he comes off as such a dick sometimes. He is a power-douche who owes literally almost his entire career to Dwayne Wade. Outside of the 02-03 Final 4 with Wade, Tom Crean had not made a Sweet 16 until last year. I'm not sure sure IU would have even hired him if not for Dwayne Wade. You take that Final 4 out of the equation and his record at Marquette isn't all that impressive.

He is also ridiculous looking. I think he gets his hair cut at the same place as Agent Gibbs from NCIS.

I hate Tom Crean.

I may have this all wrong, who knows.
But I look at Xavier, and see them not blocking (and perhaps helping) Dez Wells play this year at Maryland.
I look at Indiana, and see Crean blocking Crawford from playing here after their in-house train wreck.
That's all I need to know about the "hosers."

Let's face it, the college basketball coaching profession attracts some slimy people. There are exceptions, but Crean certainly isn't one.

This was the argument when IU hired him as well. "Take away the Dwyane Wade years and Crean is .500 at Marquette." But so what? Why would you take those away? I understand not liking him and his awful, awful hair, but there's no reason to remove part of his career as justification.

I just saw video of IU's coach after yesterday's game. Was he saying "you wrecked our program" or "you poisoned my beet farm"?

If I was hiring a coach I would be looking for sustained success, not a one-time run that was based on a single, spectacular, player. It doesn't get removed from his career, but it

Phil Martelli had a #1 ranked team and made an Elite 8 with Jameer Nelson and Delonte West in 2003-2004. In the 8 seasons since then he has a total of zero NCAA tournament wins. How good of a coach is he? He landed 2 great players that made him appear to be a better coach than he really was.

Fair enough, though Martelli never grabbed any other really high end recruits. Crean has.

Crean did take an indiana Team that was such a trainwreck that they would struggle to finish in the top half of any conference in America, and they are now a top five team. That counts for something.

I don't know what he's like personally. Some terrible people are fantastic managers and coaches. Some great people are awful managers and coaches. Crean is a damn good coach. They were perhaps the worst program at the major level, and probably the mid-major level as well, and now they're looking at a #1 seed.

He's done a very nice job there, but let's not overstate things. IU was horrid when he got there, but it's not like he was trying to build up Northwestern. IU sells itself, and any reasonably good coach is going to win a lot of games there once he has a chance to recruit with all of IU's built-in advantages.

This is how I see it. I can't argue that he hasn't achieved the goal of turning around a program that was in shambles, and for that he deserves credit. But, as he said when he took the job, "It's Indiana." He happened to take over at a time when Indiana had some really good high school prospects, particularly Zeller. Then he hit the lottery by taking a chance on Victor Oladipo. I watched Oladipo play many high school games, and he was really good by all means, but there's no way anyone could've predicted he'd become a potential first overall pick in the NBA draft. Honestly, there were several times where he was overmatched in the WCAC by other D1 prospects. You just can't predict that a guy like that, who you bring in to be a solid role player will become a first team All-American.

Crean's body of work as a head coach is large enough by now that I feel comfortable saying he has been good, but let's not go overboard. His career accomplishments without Wade, a hall of fame/possibly top 50 player of all time when it's all said and done, is quite mediocre. If he can't at least get this year's IU team to a Final Four, I think that would be a disappointment. He deserves due credit for what they've done this year, even though he is indisputably a Douchebag Hall of Fame candidate, but I have a feeling if IU loses before the final weekend this March, he's looked at a lot differently.

I don't know if he inherited it from the Harbaughs once he married into that family of indisputable douchebags, but he certainly has the token Harbaugh smug-as-shit smile that no other mortal family can match.

Between my love of Xavier and my love of Michigan I will be rooting for a first round loss by IU in the NCAA tournament followed by part of the roof collapsing on Tom Crean's head. I hate that guy.

Crean seems to be in a beef with every other Big Ten coach (especially Matta and now Beilein), half the current Big East, the top half of the A-10, and probably a few assorted Big 12 coaches.

He's the living embodiment of that great quote from Justified: "If you get up in the morning and run into an asshole, you ran into an asshole. If you get up in the morning and run into assholes all day, you're an asshole."

Guess what? Marquette fans think he"'s a douche too. And he (well, Duane Wade) got them to a Final 4.

Looks like Xavier fans aren't the only ones who are pissed at former coaches.

It was in regards to our recruiting. The quote was something along the lines of waking up on third and thinking we hit a triple.

That's all I can remember, anyone else care to fill in the blanks?

Exactly. I mean, Mike Davis went to a Final 4 at IU.

I don't disagree with that. i was disagreed with the notion that Crean sucked as a coach. He doesn't. He may be an asshole. There are other coaches that are better than he is, but he doesn't suck. He did rebuild Indiana to being better than they've been in twenty years, and he won consistently at Marquette. He doesn't suck as a coach. He may suck at getting along with other people, but he doesn't suck as a coach.

Yeah, he took shots at the X coaching staff a couple of years ago on twitter:

"Frankly some of the assistants we go against I wouldn’t let valet my car. They either would lose the keys or drive away with it. In all honesty there are some Head coaches that would be the same way. The ones that wake up on 3rd base and think they hit a triple kill me."
