I'm confused on how we can get the 8th. The only two teams that are 9-7 are XU and UMASS, no other team can get to 9-7. That would put us at the 7 seed right? And is head to head the tie breaker and we cant get 6th?

UMass beat Xavier head-to-head, so the Premature Ejaculators get the 6 seed.
Charlotte is up 46-38 with 31 seconds to go, so a 7 seed looks likely at this point.

Has anybody checked the TV arrangements for this Tournament? What a clusterf$&k!
Thursday- OK withall games shown on NBC Sports Network. Good enough.
Friday- Uh, "regional broadcasts". What? No one knows what that means. FSN? TimeWarner Cable Public Access? Comcast Sports Net? Online Streaming with regional blockage? There are NO listings at all on my UVerse for A10 Basketball anywhere on Friday. Nicely done A10.
Saturday - Ok. CBS Sports Network for both semis.
Sunday- CBS Network.

Soon, very soon. But no one is gong to pre-empt the excitement or create controversy at the venues of the Conference Tournaments. That would really be a cheap shot on the way out. I would guess the NY media will press for info at the Big East Tournament, and there may be "unofficial" leaks, but nothing will come from XU until probably later in the NCAA Tournament or after.
It's a done deal. No worries.

In the past few seasons, that's meant Fox Sports Ohio when it comes to us. In Cleveland the issue has been the MAC tourney also being carried by FSO, but that's not a conflict since SportsTime Ohio now has the MAC.
There's a Cavs game on Friday so that means the main FSO channel is out. Maybe they'll pick it up on the alternate? The other option is obviously TWC Sportschannel, which hopefully won't be the case. (Can you ask your contact at FSO about this, MOR?)
Quarterfinals on Friday will however be streamed online by the A10 - http://www.atlantic10.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/030513aaa.html
Tournament Central - http://www.atlantic10.com/championships/m-baskbl-2013.html
It's really confusing being on four different networks, and thankfully this should be changed starting next season.
Masterofreality
03-10-2013, 02:34 PM
Well, at least if they are offering free streaming, that's something.
If FSO is the provider, it should be on the alternate, but I just don't know how this Time Warner Cable Public Access powered by mice treadmills comes into play. Or, it should be on FSO Cincinnati, which I get, but there are no Friday listings up yet.

Off the TV topic, VCU got rolled in the second half by Temple. That would have knocked XU out of a bye anyway.
I really think that the record and positioning in the standings of this XU team is accurate as to the true expectations. I had 16 regular season wins as a prediction and somewhere in the middle of the A10 pack. We slightly exceeded at 17 wins and #7 vs a media preseason prediction of 9th. We also kept Jimmy Carter alive and finished higher than the dump. We still have a chance to do special things and should make an NIT with a 77 RPI.
If this is the worst year that we have to ever experience again, it's a damn site better than that school up norh. The future is bright, although Georgetown and Marquette, who share the BE title with Louisviille, lose basically nothing from this year's roster. We'll have to gear up to compete with those guys.

That's right - had Xavier won last night, they'd be a #5 seed right now facing UD in the 1st round. That would have been draining going into a possible matchup with La Salle in the quarters. Butler may have done Xavier a favor by winning last night.
Saint Joe's isn't a favorable matchup either, but they don't have nearly the stones that X does this year.

Expedia is showing approximately $550 from CVG to New York (also assumes a Sunday afternoon departure). It's also one of the rare times where it seems to be cheaper to fly out of CVG instead of Dayton or Columbus.

Richmond elected to foul up 3 with 6 seconds left. On the ensuing Charlotte free throw, a Richmond player threw a Charlotte player to the ground and got a technical.
I'm starting to believe there is no right or wrong strategy when up 3 with seconds to go. If Richmond elected not to foul, they might have won the game. It goes both ways I guess.

8 points in 1.9 seconds.
First and last time I'll ever see that.
It definitely isn't a perfect strategy, but the strategy aside, Richmond just blew it. They foul up 3, Charlotte makes the front end of the 1 and 1, and on the rebound, Richmond's Williams just shoves a guy to the ground and gets T'd up. After the other 1 and 1 and the two technicals, Charlotte is up 1. At this point, the truly unthinkable happens, when Princeton grad Chris Mooney apparently thinks the refs screwed up by letting a different shooter shoot the techs (they did not, in fact) and he storms the court in a fist of rage at the refs, gets T'd up and ejected, and basically pisses away any chance his team had of winning. In the A10 tournament. Just unreal.

I might be wrong because I was laughing at Richmond's misfortune so hard, but I believe mooney got double t'd after the refs announced 3 free throws because it was a shooting foul with 2.8 left...I think the Charlotte player got 11 free throws in total at the end and made 8

Yea I think you're right about that. It was truly a clusterfuck of hilarity and ridiculousness. I can't even imagine how I'd feel if X had been on either side of that debacle.
In other news, I'm watching the next game now between my two most hated teams in the conference, rooting of course for them to break the 6OT record set by that Cuse/Conn game a couple years ago.
