Social media is going to ruin somebody's life. There should be some lock outs on social media, where it locks you out if you are drunk, high, or just experienced a traumatic life event. Such as learning that you aren't nearly as good at basketball as your parents, friend, head coach and ego kept telling you. Oh, and a player from that school with the fans that love to taunt you got a player drafted in the same draft so if you try to say "it was too strong a draft field" it makes you look worse.

Killpatrick was a bit delusional if he thought he was getting drafted. But I imagine it's gotta suck to have such a good college career then have your dreams of getting drafted not come true. I love Cincinnati. I will always love Cincinnati. If I moved up north, it would be to move to Cincinnati.

But I have to be objective and fair. My wife and I attended a family wedding about five years ago in Cleveland. We arrived for a long weekend. The wedding was in July. The weather the entire time was essentially about being around 80°, not a cloud in the sky, and a humidity level that would match that of San Diego.

We ate downtown the first evening at a phenomenal Italian restaurant, sitting outside looking back at some of the skyline. Overall, downtown looked clean and nice. Otherwise, we may as well have been looking out over the Atlantic Ocean as we looked out over Lake Erie.

Then it was on to Rocky River for all of the festivities. The reception was held at the Cleveland Yacht Club. And the day after the wedding, we took the shuttle over to PIB. I'm sorry, but the days of a burning river and rotting city certainly seem to be well in the rearview mirror as far as Cleveland goes.

I couldn't care less about Cleveland sports. And I know nothing of their fans....nor do I care. But as a city, Cleveland is amazing. The cultural diversity alone sets it way apart from Cincinnati. That said there is also a great amount of pride which I respect. Having been to Cleveland a few times and adopting Cincinnati as my new home I don't think there is much comparison. Lake Erie is great. But having grown up 20 minutes from Lake Michigan I much prefer that.

You certainly can not lump Pittsburgh in that group of midwesternish towns or call it the "same shit." For starters it's only about 5 hours from the atlantic ocean and it has so much to offer: the hills surrounding the 3 rivers with all of those bridges add so much character... plus there is quite a bit of culture and 3 solid professional sports teams (including one bad ass NFL team with more super bowl wins than any other) and two beautiful new stadiums (okay one very solid NFL stadium and one absolutely gorgeous MLB stadium). The city gets rated among the most livable quite frequently with good reason. If you have not been there lately- I encourage you to go. You will not be disappointed.

I think Xville is making a bit of an overstatement, but I generally agree with him more than others, especially concerning Pittsburgh. I definitley prefer some of these cities to others, but they are all more alike than different.

I have lived in St. Louis, Cincinnati, Morgantown (WV), Pittsburgh, Charleston (WV), and Richmond. I also have spent a decent amount of time in a variety of other East Coast cities. Pittsburgh is much more like St. Louis and Cincinnati than it is like any East Coast city, even Richmond, another river city. In fact, Pittsburgh is more like the surrounding Appalachia (including where I've lived in West Virginia) than any East Coast city. I've actually jokingly referred to it as the "Capital of Appalachia" before. So, I'd rate the East Coast as third in cultural influences for a city from which I've only recently moved.

Midwestern cities have a lot to offer, but they're also usually more of a hodgepodge than larger cities. Great this, great that, but also terrible (or nonexistent) other things. You lack the variety and the uniformity of quality that a larger city (like Washington, Chicago, NYC, even places like Philly or Boston) gives you.

In that regard, they're all about the same. Great places to live if they're offering you what you want, frustrating if you're the type that craves a lot of variety or choices.

Mack didn't prematurely tweet. He tweeted what he always tweets when he gets a commitment. That's all he can do. Even if Nichols held a press conference and announced he would attend XU, Mack couldn't say word one about him until he has his LOI in November.

I'm not a fan of Verbal Commits or 24/7. But he's more of a project for sure, won't make a splash impact as a freshman, but with 6 freshmen in this class that isn't necessary and honestly being able to redshirt someone next year (not sure if thats the case with kip) would be ideal.

Without divulging too much premium content, Mack was not visiting a 2015 recruit in Vermont.

Also, as others have said, I think it's pretty obvious the tweet was about Nichols and things changed, as they often do when dealing with high school kids. Also, Ohio State has a commitment from Mickey Mitchell who plays the same position as Nichols in 2015 and two SFs in the 2014 class. I highly doubt they are the issue here.

The tweet wasn't about Nichols. Kipper is being pursued hard by Ohio State now. Nichols paid OSU a visit last weekend too and they're the front runner now. We're still going after Aric Holman, Suggs and Miller. Holman is leaning to VCU now though.

The guys at Scout are about as close to these situations as anyone not employed by Xavier University. I agree what Brian and Rick post is certainly not 100% fact, they have had inaccurate information before. Truth be told, I don't trust anyone's information as 100% correct because recruiting high school kids is so fluid. I am sure MOR's sources are as good as gold too, but I think Mack sent out a tweet when he honestly believed he would have a commitment yesterday.

Only this kid's family knows what is happening and what has happened so far in this process. And I take any opinion in this or any internet tavern with a grain of salt. Everyone has an asshole....and an opinion. Doesn't mean one asshole is more right than the other.


However, when it comes to knowing the hidden meanings of tweets, and why the coaches tweet what they do...Rick and Brian's information is right more often than it is wrong.

Honestly anyone who follows a sport to closely probably needs their heads examined. End of the day it's literally just a game, but to all of us on here we put way too much stock in it.

Yeah we can't say for sure that tweet was about Nichols. But you also can't say for sure it wasn't about Nichols. You can trust your sources, but at the same time your sources don't know what he was and wasn't texting Mack.

One way or another Chris thought he had a commitment two days ago and clearly doesn't have one now. He doesn't tweet "x marks the spot" one week before a commitment he does it within 24 hours. I dont have the time or patience to go back and check that but I know I'm right.

That assumes Mack jumped the gun. Another (far more plausible) possibility is that Kipper *told* Mack he was committed and would announce the next day, but then things fell apart in the following 12 hours when others got to him and he failed to come through on his promised announcement.

These things happen. 18 year old kids aren't the most dependable. They are vulnerable, and prone to persuasion.
