Next time they declare, they are gone. That's why I think it's odd when people think they are going to stay another two years. In my opinion, next year is their last, regardless of nba or not. They are older, they are talented...if not the nba, they can make great money in Europe. Might as well start a year sooner.

I 100% agree with this. The core 4 are done after this season. The 2020 class will be another big class of 5 players.

Sorry to be ‘that guy’ but Terrelle (as he was known at the time) Holloway was a soph when he made those free throws vs KSU and the legend of his steel cojones was born.

However, he did hit a couple very clutch free throws at the end of a game his frosh year. I believe it was vs Missouri in that season’s holiday tournament.

In the end, Tu is and always will be a bad ass. Thanks again, Kelvin Sampson!

I believe he went 10 for 10 in that game in Puerto Rico, if my memory isn't betraying me. That was the year we beat a highly ranked Memphis team in the finals and the same tourney where Love to Dante resulted in a 45 foot walk-off winner against VaTech, who, I believe, was carried by a native Puerto Rican.

I watched the BEDN news conference at noon.

Frankly, all this is very exciting for all parties involved.

As far as adding a 12th team is concerned, Val flat out said NO INTEREST in doing that. In fact, she made it clear that we - the BE - had been very happy at 10. UConn coming along as they did - - those conversations materially engaged after the tournament this year - - presented a unique opportunity for the BE and for UConn. A one-off and ONLY prospective addition to the conference that made and makes sense.

I have never felt better about Xavier and its basketball program. Think about it: the joy we felt after it was announced that we were joining the C7. But that joy was tempered with concern about how well that newly launched version of the BE would do. So, we moved along, with the BE doing very well to this point, but still probably with some lingering concern about life moving forward vis-a-vis the P5 conferences.

Not any more. The BE is fricken locked and loaded with UConn's entry.

The one thing Val did respond to about the FOX media agreement led me to believe that it may take a little while to sort out what the new per school figures will become. I still believe it's safe to believe that the figures are going up, but it's just that we may have to wait a little bit to see by how much.

Haha he's always had a soft spot for Xavier because of me, and I've had a soft spot for UCONN because of him, we co-exist pretty well. D-1, but a “subdivision” of the D-1. A lot less money involved. For example, both Butler and Dayton play in the Pioneer league, along with schools such as Stentson and Davidson. Hardly at the level of a Cincinnati, Memphis, Central Florida, let alone any SEC or B10 schools. I could see UConn following the same path and joining something like the Pioneer league or another I-AA league for football only. 63 scholly v 85 scholly and 11 games v 12 games per year at that level.

Yeah, I didn't think about it, but only Jackson State has a stadium with 40,000 capacity at the FCS level (Not counting Yale, or UPenn but I think they don't give out scholarships or there's something screwy about it, but if you do, then 3), so UCONN at the FCS level would automatically have the largest stadium. The facilities I think would be on par with someone like JMU, but JMU also is extremely competitive at that level. Even if they went independent, wouldn't they still lose a ton of money with the football program though? Would it be better to be competitive at the FCS level, or a program like UMASS I guess is what I'm wondering..

While his team is quarantined, Steele said his players are essentially isolated to their rooms right now. They have a team Zoom call every day and some of the players are taking classes over winter break, so some academics are keeping them busy.
But, Steele also assigned a little homework of his own.
I've been having those guys watch other Big East opponents," Steele told Byron Larkin and Joe Sunderman. "I wanted to get their thoughts, their scouting report on (each) team.
"I thought this would be a good way to keep our guys engaged, almost give them a preview of what's to come in the Big East. Because you can tell a lot when a coach prepares you a scouting report, you can watch film, you can see clips of their offensive and defensive system, but you can tell a lot more when you sit down and watch a whole game.
"Our guys got a lot of time on their hands right now, they're just sitting around in their rooms. We can use this time to get more familiar with who we're about to play over the next few months."
Each day when they connect as a team over Zoom, Steele goes down the line and asks his team questions.
"I'll ask, 'Hey Zach (Freemantle), what did you notice about (Georgetown big man) Qudus Wahab's game?' Then I'll let him talk," said Steele. "Then maybe I'll ask Adam Kunkel, 'What did you notice about their ball-screen defense? What's a way we can attack them?'
"I just want them to put their coaches hat on and maybe see the game through a different lens a little bit. It's been good for our guys and it's been amazing what they've been able to digest. I've been very impressed."

In all seriousness, I of course love my 4 kids and wouldn't trade them for anything. Afterall, someone is going to need to take care of me when I am old, and given that I have 4, I hope the chances at least one of them will are high!

Yes, make yourself loved by the people who will choose your nursing home.

Basic answer is that they NBA team can send you up and down to the G League. I think each team can only have a couple / few of these guys.

Used to be that you could sign guys to 2 10-day contracts and then you’d either have to sign them to the NBA te for the rest of the season, or they become free agents.

Something like that. It’s good to get a 2 way deal
