I'd expect about 7.5K seasons tickets by the time the season starts. That's pretty strong.

Are these numbers for full season tickets, or are partial plans (i.e. 6-packs) included in the numbers?

How does that work for a school like Villanova?
The Pavilion only seats 6,500. If they had 7,100 season ticket requests, a lot of them could only see the games at the Wells Fargo center.

Just think how many season tickets would have been sold if they weren't doing the reseat thingy.

I can't imagine people are walking away because they "might" lose their seat or have to move a little. I would question how big of a fan they really are then.

So you think fans that loyal/dedicated are going to just put an end to it over the possibility of having to move seats? Most of the people who are paying a lot of money are in a good spot to keep their seats or possibly improve even.

I honestly just think it's people being comfortable with what they know and are used to. Change can be difficult, and even if it's something as trivial as a seat in a stadium. However, if you've paid for that seat for the last 15 years, I feel like you should get priority on the seat you want. Personally I wouldn't care, but I could see how it does matter to some people for what it's worth.

I simply don't think this is happening all that much if at all. I think the vast majority of people will be kept in pretty much the same area that they are in now. If you're going to drop your tickets b/c you got moved a couple of rows......again, how much of a fan are you really then?
Just don't take an aisle seat away from me! Even when I go to Stubhub being close to or preferably ON the aisle is a big deal for me. I'd get cranky over that, I admit. Other than that, not so much...

I agree that not renewing now in anticipation of what seats you MIGHT get next year is a little extreme. I also agree about the aisle seats. I have that now. Losing that would be a deal breaker. I'm 6'5" and want the extra leg room you get with no one on one side. I have an aisle seat with my Bengals seats, too.

Basketball players don't seem to train for distance that often. Honestly, 200m and 400m repeats are probably the best bet for them.
Also, there's probably just a talent issue. These guys are high-level athletes in some respects, but runner's endurance might not be one of them. My high school's basketball program was really good, yet I could still beat any member of varsity in a mile run. I was not an elite runner on my cross country and track teams either.

But every World's Greatest (dec)athlete has.
Interval and oxygen-debt repetition training -- suicide drills In the case of basketball -- are sport specific. But the case for endurance training for BASKETBALL remains undervalued. IMHO. NOT ENDURANCE TESTING, endurance TRAINING. Except for pointing out who is grossly out of shape/condition, I don't get the mile run time trial.

Yep. As I mentioned before, I think repeats are a good tool. Run a 400, rest for a minute, run again, rest again, and so on. Even better would be doing a 100 or 200, accompanied by shorter rest intervals. The rest intervals are good for simulating stoppage of play, when lactic acid buildup is a major issue. A player needs to be able to manage that and then get back there on the court.

I think Malcolm Bernard could be lumped in here as well. With no Myles, I think he'll get some minutes and maybe play a role similar to what Derrick Gordon played for SHU last year. Certainly won't get 23 MPG, but can defend, rebound, bring the ball up court and (hopefully) not shoot too much.

Yes you are....Malcom Bernard is really good. I'm not sure that's who Evan was referencing, but he's athletic, attacks the basket and he'll be right there in the 2/3 rotation and will probably be the best perimeter defender.

Also, he may even be including Bluiett as a potential guard too. While we all think of Trevon as playing mostly the 3 or 4, goxavier has him listed as only a guard. Maybe people take their info straight from that site.

True, Malcom is a guard too... but he is not listed as ONLY guard on the site. He is guard/forward. I was relisting the players that goxavier only had listed as guards.

Supposedly, Mack likes Bernards ability to crash the boards and get rebounds. Not sure why goxavier lists him as playing both guard and forward and Trevon as only guard.
I understand. It also lists Myles Davis who is unavailable. The question originated regarding the depth in the backcourt. If the you're looking for who will be in the game if/when JP isn't playing the 2, I think the most logical answer = Malcom Bernard at this point.
Xavier also plays a style not requiring positions per se, and playing the 5 best players. So if that said, if JP isn't on the floor I think you'll see a mix of Ed, Bernard, Tre, Kaiser, Jones/Sean/Rashid ahead of Ed, Tre, Kaiser, Jones/Sean/Rashid, but the team has alot of options with players able to fit multiple positions

I would love to see Ed/Tre or JP/Kaiser as 1/2/3. Would provide a lot of drive/kick outs.
Of course I'm one of a dying breed who likes the mid-range jumper.

Actually, I think we are on the same page.
I was just throwing out a possible reason why Evan Daniels may believe X had a deep backcourt:
A) He simply may have been looking at goxavier to see all of the players (including Bluiett) listed only as guards.
B) He may have included Bernard too who (as you are correctly suggesting) should be in that mix.
I could see Bernard getting a lot of minutes at guard (if Myles is out), but then I was thinking he has yet to play a game for X (similar to Goodin). On the other hand, maybe he did see Bernard play at the 2 in practice and is already including him in the (deep backcourt) mix.

He wasn't looking at the roster, he was at practice. Usually for a solid portion of practice they split between guards/wings and posts for positional drills. My assumption is he considered anyone in the guard/wing group (which would include Bernard and Trevon) part of the "backcourt" which given how we run our offense isn't really incorrect since anyone 1-4 (if Trevon is at the 4) can initiate the ball-screen offense.

Managers/Trainers helping players with homework, papers, or tests has taken place for decades at schools across the county. It isn't organized or openly celebrated. For the most part, the school and coaches don't know about it but I'm sure there are programs that "look the other way". It was taking place when I was in college, it would be naive to think it isn't still happening.

Great that he is sticking up for his team...he should and people on twitter are nuts, but its a number one pet peeve of mine when sports figures play the "you dont know because you havent been a d1 or pro athlete card." I think its a huge cop out in most cases.

Truth of the matter is.....99% of the people complaining DON'T know.
BUT.....even though I wasn't happy to see Mack make those comments, I know that they are very hard to ignore, especially over time. I thought he handled it as respectfully and reasonably as can be expected from someone in his position. Heck, there are people here on this board that claim to be Xavier fans through and through, but are NEVER happy and aren't ever going to be happy. For some reason they think it is their job in life to point out any and all deficiencies in every player, coach, and game they see; and to make everyone else aware of what they see.
And his point is that 99% of these people wouldn't even make it through one practice at this level and have NO IDEA what these players go through every day......just so that they can play a game they love and represent a university in a dignified and upstanding manner. So when they fail to do that to some fans expectations and fall short, they then should be subject to public ridicule and have suspicions of their manhood cast upon them? What "right" do we "fans" have to do this? Would we allow this to happen to our own children and not voice opposition? Mack is standing up for his family...his Xavier family....and I totally support him in this. IMO is about time others did the same.

Great that he is supporting his guys but just because "those guys dont know," doesnt mean they cant criticize as long as its nothing personal or hateful. Its a dumb answer made by coaches who dont have other answers as to why their guys arent performing in my opinion. No i dont know what its like to be a high d 1 athlete, but i do know pressure and i do know stress, and there have been many things in my life where i have been bad at things but practiced or worked hard and got better.

Everyone can state an opinion.....how valid that opinion is depends on what the person expressing it has backing it up. How and where that opinion is stated is what he is challenging. His point being that the players today....because of social media.....are subject to hearing/reading those opinions much more than people of his and my generation were. His "society" remark was in response to a question he was asked, and just stated his opinion that it goes beyond sports and reaches into all aspects of our society today.
Back when he was a YOUNG man, he was taught (as many of us were) that if you couldn't say something nice about someone, don't say anything. We were also taught that you don't criticize others in public. But his point is that these simple things are no longer true...either in sports or in general society. Today people seem to think it is their "duty" to criticize anything and anybody......even if they have nothing to base their criticism upon other than there personal opinion based on no experience.

I think Mack handled this poorly. I do think there's a point that he didn't make well enough that the players are subjected to a level of interaction that is kind of crazy, and if you're a person @ing something negative to a player on Twitter, you're kind of a psychopath. But when he goes after people getting exasperated at games with the "they aren't great athletes, they don't know, get a life", that is so weak.
Yeah, we don't know, but I do know that Farr/Reynolds/Stainbrook also played in front of 10k fans, and they seemed to be a little more consistent, so....? We can't hold them to similar expectations? Is he ok with the way the bigs are shooting free throws because "it's hard to do in front of thousands of people"??
Also, he (and EVERY coach that makes this dumb argument) need to remember why he gets paid a million dollars a year. It's because people are entertained by it/care about it/are passionate about it. That's a good thing. You'll have a much smaller arena if you want it full of only former players/coaches. And that "get a life" argument works both ways, and somehow I don't think he's gonna trot that line out about the fans that fill Cintas an hour before a game against Villanova, or to the students waiting in the cold for tickets to a big game.

I didn't get the context because it was just a clip from a portion of a press conference, and obviously it was a bit of a tangent, but for the most part I think this is one of the big reasons why most of us -- and basketball at large -- really like Mack. He's authentic, he's comfortable in his own skin, and he's not afraid to speak his mind.

.@XavierMBB players signing a ball for a young kid as they leave practice.
I attended practice on Monday with my son, and had a great time. The team was very gracious and kind to both of us. At the end of practice, Coach told the team to make sure they sign the ball we brought before they left the floor. Very cool experience for my boy!

Here's a question. If you could choose between the following options for tonight's game, what would you choose:
A. Game tied, Xavier ball, 15 seconds left
B. The game played with whatever outcome it will be tonight
I think I would choose A since this UC team is actually pretty good, but it might mean overtime or even a loss with a turnover. The normal outcome might be a 10 point win for X with no drama.

Option A for sure. We are on the road and an underdog. If we have the ball with 15 secs left and the game is tied, I'd take that! GO MUSKIES!
