Lets see if this blows up like the infamous X/UC game.

Doubt it. No press conference quotes...

Your right about that plus they are in The Big East. Espn doesn't want to bed mouth their baby. I Hope Fox treats us like gold!

At this point I'm not sure how worried ESPN would be about their 'baby'. It doesn't sound like it's going to be their baby for much longer...

Why would we, in the new Big East want to add a bunch of hooligans, rabble rousers and malcontents like The Fighting Irish?
That would just drag drag the conference reputation down in the mud. :ohno:

I'm outraged and expect every player to be suspended at least 4 games for punches. If they made contact and created an open wound it needs to be 8 games.

The Stanford v Cal fight was worse.
Okay, obviously these kinds of things should be avoided, but I can't help but laugh about last night. For those of you that didn't see it, it started as two players were going after a loose ball and got tied up. It was obviously heated between the two players. One of Stanford's bigs ran over to "break it up" and in the process of grabbing his own teammate and pulling him away, he "mistakenly" completely knocked the Cal player down after knocking him back a good five feet. That escalated the maylay. Stanford's bench cleared as all the coaches rushed onto the floor.
Several players were ejected, along with Stanford's entire coaching staff with the exception of the head coach.
Yes, that's exactly how they announced it over the PA. "Stanford's entire coaching staff has been ejected."
Shouldn't happen, but at least by fighting standards, this one was kind of on the humorous side. From a poorly disguised cheap shot by someone who wanted to look as if they were trying to break it up, to the coaching staff getting tossed, it was good stuff.

Stanford/Cal needs a cooling off period. Their games the next two years should be played in downtown Oakland in the Warriors' arena. Just too dangerous to play this one on campus.

I forgot where I read it yesterday, but the Big East announced there would be no suspensions for any involved.
Not sure if the teams have personally suspended anyone.

I thought if you threw a punch it was an automatic one game suspension. In fact, I didn't just think it. I was almost certain of it.
Hmm. Guess not.

Big Fight at Stanford/Cal last night.
How long before ESPN dredges up tape of the XU/SucKS incident for an "Outside the Lines" expose?
I'm sure they'll ignore all other fights.....especially the Choir Boy Fighting Irish.

They don't need to dredge it up. ESPN keeps that DVD on the top of the stack, marked "When we need to show a college basketball fight"
This thread just goes to show that fights do happen. That's life. I'm pretty sure if it weren't for That Press Conference, ours would not have been that big a deal in the end either.

I completely agree.
Another aspect was that Frease got absolutely clobbered. People do get hurt in fights, but more often than not they're broken up before anyone gets seriously hurt or before anyone lands a real solid punch amongst the flailing craziness. The image of that punch, and the one of someone getting stomped on, and the press conference, just pumped everything up on sterroids. In reality, though, the events that led up to it weren't any worse than what we've seen happen in any other fight that turns out to not be that big of a deal.

The best part is that the 4 teams involved the last two nights (St. John's, ND, Stanford, and Cal) are seen as "smart schools".

Speaking of the fight and kenny, Lance hates kenny and tu apparently:
From his crap blog:

How about the Musketeers? In the past, there have been XU players I didn't particularly enjoy watching: Kenny Frease, Mark Lyons, Kevin Frey, Tu Holloway, Lenny Brown.
What do all of those players have in common? Kicking UC's ass? I've never seen local players get called out like this before. Lance is a douche.

There is an auto one game suspension; the announcement was no further punishment on top of that.

Don't all Xavier players of the past 30 years have this in common ?

Our fight was better "entertainment" for the following:
1) Kenny walking away with blood streraming down his face
2) The punch that caused the blood along with the head stomp
3) The press conference where middle aged and older white people misinterpreted the language used by young adult urbanites

I would also like to add it was Saturday early afternoon after older white people finally had eaten their grapefruit and finished their crossword puzzles.
This recent fight happened on a Tuesday evening when NCIS is on.

What's the media going to do now that UC is going to play in a lesser conference?
