So do we offer a buy game slot to dayton next year? How much $$$ do we offer them to come get their yearly butt kicking at Cintas?

Not sure about that.
But we could give the Bearpussies a buy game...that would get them back to the Cintas which they seem to be afraid of.

All kidding aside I wouldnt mind at all continuing a series with UD if they dont eventually get into the new Big East. I may be in the minority but I think it is a good series and I want to keep kicking their butt in Cincinnati even if we lose once in a while at UD.

I was just wondering what we would do with Dayton next year. There is no neutral sites to play (all fans would be livid if they played neutral at US Bank). I couldn't see both schools agreeing to play on the road. Why play on the road when you could sell out your own arena for this game? Don't be surprised if this game gets dumped next year

I'd say there's an approximately 100% chance that the Xavier/UD series will continue on an annual basis no matter what happen on the conference front.

I really don't think it does our program any good to play a team with no conference on a neutral floor. Can we get out of the shootout?

Maybe we should just let the humpers play in their favorite city every year and stop making that hassle of a trip up to the dump. Unless of course they have a better alternative.

Home and home?

No way we waste two non conference games against the Criers.

I think he means alternating sites every year, as playing at X one year and the dirty dump the next.

Play Wright State home and home instead. Do it simply because it would be hilarious.

Beat me to it.

Yea but if Dayton joins the conference the next year there is only one year X isn't in the same conference as them. Who gets to be the home team?

They need us more than we need them (in so many ways). Our house or forget it. Play Memphis on the road instead.

In the words of Bob Huggins, "F-em. Really, F'em. "

That is the only time I will ever quote Thuggy Bear.

Dayton is the perfect "buy" game. There is a 0% chance they can beat us at Cintas.

There is just too much history with Dayton. They will figure something out.

It's like your crazy alcoholic uncle... he still gets invited to Thanksgiving dinner every year. So it will be with the Flyers.

I still think it is worth playing - not at 'any cost' - whatever that means.

But, it is a fervent environment here or there, mostly because of dayton's rabid obsession with all things Xavier. I think the team benefits from playing in such an environment - at least until the BE rivalries get ramped up.

UD now becomes our new annual "rivalry" game a la what Miami used to be. Crosstown Shootout will always be there, I say keep up the UD series as a Home and Home until they are just so bad that playing them just isn't worth it anymore...a la Miami.

NO. NEVER PLAY THEM AGAIN. EVER EVER EVER EVER. EVER! F THEM. THEY DON"T DESERVE TO STEP FOOT INTO CINTAS AND THE ONLY REASON THEY HAVE DONE SO SO FAR IS BECAUSE WE ARE STUCK WITH THEM IN OUR LEAGUE!

Really, here is our chance to forever cut any type of ties we have with that place. THIS IS OUR CHANCE! LET'S TAKE IT!
I HATE dayton.

They are so below us at this point that at best they should get a 2 for 1 from us, I am more thinking a 3 for 1 is about right.

Or we could just open our doors to Wright State instead.

At this point, hating Dayton just legitimizes them further. I recommend passive indifference.

So, when the question is asked "Is Dayton a buy game next year?" my response is "Eh...who cares."

The petty, spite-laced play woudld be to play Wright State at Nutter. That way we are really rubbing it in their faces that "We took the time to come up to Dayton, just to NOT play you" Of, course that would be totally against our scheduling philosophy that if we go on the road, its for a BCS/high-major level team. (Local rivalry games excluded of course)
