I gave up pop. It's been tough, especially when you go out to eat. But it's getting easier.

Soda as well. Give it up every year as a way to finally quit drinking it but the sweet syrup pulls me back in every time.
I did have a lapse this past weekend and drank Sprite due to having the flu. I think God will forgive me for that, right?

Caffeine - so primarily soda and coffee. Giving up coffee has been a trick.

The biggest sacrifices are the ones you don't choose for yourself!

I have no problem with this since some have started charging up to $2.75 for a lousy coke.

Alcohol and ice cream from Monday through Saturday. (I binge on Sundays.)

I'm a tough old guy...and I've had a lot of encouragement.

Thanks to Catholic Radio on Sirius Satellite Radio, I binge on Sundays also. I had never heard that during lent, you have a free pass on Sundays until a priest mentioned it on the radio last year. He said you can have what you gave up for lent on Sundays. I gave up Diet Coke and sweets. I am close to hating Ice Tea, because I travel alot and very few restaurants make Ice Tea that's worth a shit.
I have given up giving up stuff for Lent. I don't eat meat on Fridays. I feel that is enough.

I try to eat enough meat on Friday to make up everyone else.

Just go Caddyshack on them and drop a "Well I ain't payin' no $2.75 for no Coke" and send it back. Hopefully it ends in a fight that ends with "pick up that blood".

In 1990 I paid $5 for an orange juice. It was at the Cafe Risque and we were there at breakfast time. The topless waitress sat it on the near edge of our booth and had the guy sitting next to me pass it to me because she didn't want to hang her boobs in everybody's faces. I'm sorry, isn't that part of the job description? Anyway, it was the largest and best-tasting orange juice I have ever had. Lessons: don't go to topless bars for breakfast and when you go to Florida, drink lots of OJ.
I have no idea what this has to do with the rest of the thread.

A common theme here...I'm giving up Pop and Ice Cream on consecutive days (what can I say, I'm creative with Lent). In years past I've binged on Sundays, but I'm going all of Lent without Pop.
I surprisingly don't miss Pop considering how much I was drinking prior to Lent. The Mio water flavoring is helping a lot!

Alcohol, pizza and sweets.
I know, I'm an idiot.
