Just saw this link (http://www.barstoolsports.com/barstoolu/super-page/wisconsins-ryan-evans-switches-to-jump-shot-free-throws/), and thought about all of our awesome free throw troubles. I don't think I've ever seen someone shoot a jump shot from the line... I wonder if this could help some of our troubles. Semaj seems to have a great jump shot from hat range.
Some players are better shooting in rhythm than set shooting, and Semaj is definitely one of them. Look at Redford's free throw routine. He doesn't slow it down at all and there's no hesitation. He doesn't allow himself the time to hesitate with his stroke, just bounces it and goes through his form in one motion. A lot of times with our other guys, you can clearly see that tiny little hesitation in their release or somewhere in their form. I don't think there's a fix for it, especially at this point, but it is certainly something that has been a difference maker for us. We could easily be inside the bubble right now had we had good free throw shooting this year.

I say Xavier should hire Tu "Steel Balls" Holloway as a consultant to run a free throw clinic this offseason. But that would probably be against NCAA regulations...

In grade school basketball, I shot free throws like that, because I already had a good jump-shot, so I would stubbornly stick to that against the coaching on free-throw shooting. :ok:
