Wow. Well, next time our government does something stupid, hopefully we can say "well at least we didn't legalize drunk driving!"

Reminds me of an anecdote our tour guide told us when I toured Ireland in 2008.

Something about how DUI laws were putting a hurting on the pub business. He said in the past there had been a gentelmens's agreement, a custom if you will. If you had been drinking, yes you still drove home, but you knew to drive SLOWLY. You could tell who had a few and was open about it becuase they would be the ones going at about 10mph.

Awesome move for the Irish.

I think they're doing it all wrong. To get one of these licenses, you should have to get liquored up and take a driving test. If you pass it, permit granted.

Would give some folks a chance in a regulated environment to test out the theory that they drive better drunk.

Well, if you swerve while drunk driving you can't go off track very far.

The roads are as wide as my little finger and there is a stone wall, earthen berm or hedgerow about 6 inches from the pavement.

I've always argued that each person should have their own individual blood/alcohol limit. Maybe .08 and beyond is just fine for some people, while others can't drive at all at .04.

What a pompous holier than thou article. I applaud the move.

Fixed that for you. Anytime it snows in Cincinnati I wonder how anyone in this city survives their morning commute.
