No idea what the program's history is but I imagine X hasn't had too many people selected?

I'm glad you asked, because I enjoyed looking up such a successful athletic program for Xavier:
Developed recent MLS draft picks Andy Dorman (2004), Ryan Johnson (2004), Zach Kirby (2006) Dave Roth (2008), and Oliver Kupe (2012)

Seriously, no problem; you prompted me to go there, and I enjoyed reading about it.

Just to clarify, Luke is in fact the first ever Xavier soccer player to be drafted by the MLS. The previous players referred to in the media guide are players that Coach Andy Fleming coached/developed at previous schools. So this is big not only for Luke, but also for the program, especially considering that Junior Nick Hagglund and possibly Matt and Will Walker are poised to add to Xavier's MLS numbers next year and the year after.

Thanks for the clarifications.
To your point, Coach Fleming has proven he can recruit and develop talent at this level. It puts the Xavier soccer program in good stead - hopefully, for years to come.

This is awesome news. I'd love to see and hear Xavier's name more during MLS games. Now we need one for DC United and we'll be good to go.

Xavier soccer has made unbelievable strides since Andy has taken over. Some guys I played with (around 10 years ago) have been emailing each other over the last few days wondering why none of us were taken. Of course we were kidding. The program sucked. Well done Xavier, Andy, and Luke!
While Luke is a big loss, there is a USF transfer goalkeeper, a redshirt freshman, and two Cincinnati kids coming in to replace Justin Marshall and hopefully Calum Latham can fill Luke's spot as a target forward (6'5"), assuming Fleming wants to play the same way.
