I know that some of you, not many, but some of you, have NKU roots.
They won their first ever conference game tonight against North Florida as a member of the ASun, and as a member of div1. They lost in the final seconds in the conference opener agianst Jacksonville the other night.
Saturday, they have their first home game of the seaosn, and their first home game as a div1 member. Teams that go through the transition process certainly pay their dues, and that means hitting the road for guarantee games.
They should be competitive in the Atlantic Sun. It's a shame that they're on probation during the transition and cannot play in the conference tournament.
They've managed three wins this season, and I think they'll win some more games now that they're in confernece play. The transition process is a huge challenge, and it can often be discouraging. It's a four year process, so chances are none of the current players will ever play in a conference tournament game. You lose a lot, and even when you win, it's hard to get too excited when you can't play in the postseason. Manyt eams only won three or four games their first year, and didn't even manage a ten win season until after they completed the process. Still, I think it was definitely the right move. I wish they'd done it sooner. I hope some students and alumni turn out for some of their home games. They have a very nice arena, and I'd really like to see them build that program up.
