read with much interest the recent stories in the ENQ about Princeton's Kelsey Mitchell, her family, her game.

So what's the chance that a superb guard turned head coach (Amy Waugh) might be able to get one of the best players ever in the tri state area to make the Cintas Center her home?

There should be plenty of competition. I'm sure her father, Mark Mitchell, has connections as Taft's boys head coach, and Princeton's head coach, Jill Phillips, played at Georgia. Princeton had a pretty good player not too long ago, Lesslee Mason-Cox, who wound up at Ohio State, but I just read she evenutally transferred out of there to Houston. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing for our chances.

Shes going to go wherever she wants to go

She'll have the pick of the litter

Sounds like they have a very close family.....maybe she will stay close so that they can watch her play

I'm not sure we have much of a chance here. At #1 she can pretty much pick where she wants to go. Coach Waugh really doesn't have any track record of success yet, and that's a problem (actually with all recruits this is a problem too). The A-10, of course, will not help our chances.

I'm thinking the new conference/alignment, which could begin in her freshman year, might just give us a shot in the arm.
Knowing just a little about Coach Waugh, I don't suspect she's given up, or will give up,

I just saw Mark Mitchell, Taft boys basketball coach and Kelsey Mitchell's dad, was hired as an assistant for Ohio State's women's team. Might just be a clue where she is going.

Couple ways to look at this, neither way points to XU.
1) McGuff is a proven recruiter, he was hired to help right the ship and recruit the nest player in the country. Kelsey lives in a very close knit family and hiring Dad will pave the way.
2) Kelsey is headed to college, and the freedom that carries with it would be stiffled by moving to a college along with Dad.

I say Coach Waugh should keep the heat on. She's got the Big East behind her, she's a point guard's coach, At XU Kelsey has a chance to be a big fish in a big pond by putting XU hoops back into the upper echelon of college hoops!

From talk I have heard both Kelsey and her sister will be joining dad at Ohio State. Feel bad for the kids no breathing room with dad there everyday.

With her dad coming on board at Ohio State, I see zero chance the girls will sign anywhere other than Ohio State. I think this is kind of sleazy, but it's not against the rules, so you can't fault McGuff, I guess.

You must not remember the Acres family and Oral Roberts University.
