Just interesting numbers so far.

Lyons is averaging 14pts, 90% from the line, 48% from the arch. Only 12 assists to 15 TO

Wells averaging 13.9pts, 64% from the line, 5 boards a game.

Would you want them on this team if things had gone differently? I think we are better off with Lyons gone, attitude and numbers wise. I think we could have really used Dez as an inside presence.

If this team still had Mark we would not see the minutes/growth from Semaj. Whether we are better off short term for it or not I do not know, but we are definitely better off in the long run.

I think Dez would definitely be able to help this team but it is what it is

I doubt it...more like the development of Dee.

Semaj would be in the rotation even if we had Lyons.

Mark not so much. Dez, absolutely. Will definitely miss the aerial show and he was a team guy.

Oh yeah, it was going to be Dez's team. He was a good teammate, and had all the leadership capabilities. He's definitely missed, plus I think that 13 a game would influx by a couple points here.

Don't care.

I agree, Dez is missed. However, and I was in the camp of not wanting Lyons to leave, now that I see the team without him, I don't want him back. Just seems like to me that they work much better together as a team.

Be careful, I'm pretty sure that this hypothetical topic falls under the "not allowed" list, unlike other hypotheticals which are perfectly OK.

And numbers-wise, yes I'd take them both. Dez is a beast. I've watched all but one of his games and he is an awesome player. I haven't watched Mark this year but it looks like he's a very efficient scorer for Sean Miller.

Remember that Dez wouldn't have to adjust to a new environment, because he would be the leader of this team from day one.

So thinking that he would be averaging 13 or 14 points a game on this team I think is short sighted. I think he would have been at least 19 possibly 20. Also he would have limited Martin's minutes, so those have to go down. But Dez would at least have 8 boards a game because you have to remember he's getting 6 with Alex Len manning the paint. Guys who are at least 7 feet tall take at least two boards a game off guys like Wells.

There's no way Samej wouldn't be getting the minutes he's getting no matter what. Mark simply wasn't going to take them away. There were plenty of months where Mack was implementing his new offense to share the ball. With Dez as the undisputed leader of the team, Mark would have been a great role player off the bench.

I know what you are thinking, that would never happen. But it's interesting to think about and discuss, because ultimately none of this matters. So go with me here.

Mark would be the ultimate 6th man. Much like what Jordan Crawford is doing for the Wizards, Lyons would come off the bench to provide scoring and relief to our guards. Just like the Wizards developing Beal, Xavier would be developing Semaj. How much he bought into the new offense of moving the ball, rather than what worked last year with the isolation, pick and rolls, would determine if he got 20 minutes a game, rather than say, 8. I think when you look at the stats Mark has at Arizona, one could easily say he would come off the bench here and be really productive.

Of course you can't take away the idea that Jeff Robinson would be effected in some way. But I think Wells does his best over the summer and on the trip to Anaheim to assure him, not to listen to Mark, but Dez. Dez will tell him that every game for Jeff should be like that game against LaSalle. Jeff, knowing that he can completely tune Mark out, because Dez told him so, would flourish. It's interesting just to think of Jeff's possibilities alone, but I'll leave that topic alone for now.

That would cause the ultimate ripple effect on this team. There's no way with Mark, Dez, Samej and a newly recreated Jeff Robinson would have lost a game so far. And looking at the schedule, the toughest game would be UC and that is at home.

Okay, maybe not "at home" but it certainly isn't an away game. We could walk into that Temple game with one possibly two losses, the other one being that road trip to Tennessee, where I see Mark injuring himself against Wake, like he did before and unable to perform. That will cause Jeff to try and do more then he should to fill that void, and Martin would see more time in that Tennessee game but be rusty since this is Dez's team and has taken his minutes. Martin would try and show everybody that he can contribute, but that will hurt us in a loss at Knoxville.

Man there are so many possibilities to think about what this team could have been this year with both Mark and Dez, or just Mark, or just Dez, or Mark, Dez, no Jeff, Or no Mark, no Brad, fatter Jeff and Justin Martin playing point. It's definitely interesting to think about.

Do you guys think a Dez, Mark, Semaj lineup in the second half of a tied game with about a minute left on the road, say at Richmond, would be able to shut down their perimeter forcing a turn over and putting us in a spot with a back door cut to Taylor for the win? I'm interested in some thoughts on that.

Of course we'd like them both. Semaj, Lyons and Dez on the court at the same time? Holy talent.

But it is what it is. Let's move on.

Mark would be the ultimate 6th man.

And every season ticket holder would get a pony.

While we're fantasizing, we can pretend that Sim Bhullar would be on the team, and doing his best healthy Yao Ming impression.

Just like the Wizards

We should TOTALLY try to be more like the Wizards. Remember when they didn't suck? Me neither.

I don't care much -- I've pretty much moved on at this point. But since that's no fun, I'll vote YES on Dez and NO on Lyons. I very much think Dez would help us this year. Lyons has talent -- there's no doubt there -- but after seeing them play in Anaheim I very much believe that he kept a number of our players down, Robinson, Martin and Taylor in particular.

The Wizards didn't suck in 2005, and to a lesser extent didn't suck in the three seasons after that. Right now, they don't not suck. And saying Jordan Crawford is the ultimate sixth man is like saying Zip's is the ultimate burger.

Somehow a discussion about Cheeks and Dez just turned to food. It seems a lot of threads around here turn into debates about what is the best burger or best beer. We are all fat drunks.

Don't forget that if Dez were still here there would have been different matchups at practice and Semaj would not have had the dental elbow issue.

The answer is an obvious yes, especially if we are basing this on pure talent. the team lacks depth and this would be the answer.

I would take both Lyons and Dez back in a heartbeat. I also don't like all the people bashing Mark, yet a lot of those same people loved some of his great performances he put on in a Xavier uniform in his years with the team. I'll say it again, Mark was not a terrible person and he would have made our team better.
