I was watchin ESPN last night and there were higlights of a women's game where the crowd did the "color" out with a twist. Instead of just one color they did two and did it by section. Obviously that took planning and provided T-shirts but we have been complaining that the one color was played out, I thought this was an interesting twist. I'll try to find a pic or something.

edit: pic found

I think at this point, take it one step farther and either spell stuff our, or do a logo.

Wasn't there a huge prank involving holding up cardboard squares done at a college football game where the opposing fans got the fans to spell out "we suck" or something similar?

The prank you refer to is pulled by Yale against Harvard...

Tonight's Vandy-UT game is a "white out," which is great since no one I know here owns a white Vandy shirt. I've only seen a couple in like 3 years here.

That Caltech story is fantastic. I'm not saying I know anything about any pranks, but watching "Bob Huggins Has No Integrity" fly over UC's football stadium for half an hour was one of the funniest things I have ever personally witnessed. I can't imagine how hard those Caltech guys laughed. I bet they are still laughing.

Penn State did a white out against OSU in football this year with a big blue S in the middle of the crowd. We could do a white out with a big blue X.

Now thats a good idea. Too bad it could never be done for this season.

It would be tough to do. For the best visual, you'd have to involve the fans in the center court, lower bowl sections. Getting all of those blue hair wine & cheesers into their seats is tough, let alone wearing a cheap t-shirt over their designer duds.

You wouldn't catch Metrosexual Dustin Dow wearing a Hanes white t-shirt over his Italian sweater.

indiana did a stripe out against michigan state a few weeks ago... one section was white, the next was red, and so on...it doesnt look as "flashy" as persay a white out or any other color for that matter

I like the "stripe out" idea. It takes a little more organization and planning than a standard color out and IMHO looks pretty cool. I think the color outs get boring and are overdone, but a stripe out is a good idea.

Didn't we do the "stripe out" in the student section at least a couple times in the '04-'05 season? I feel like for Dayton 115 wore blue, 117 white, the band wore blue, then 116 wore white.

But it would be much cooler to get the whole arena in on it.

Tennessee has alternated orange and white sections in the past (which was supposed to look like their checkerboard football end zone). I'd love to know how much they had to spend on T-shirts to pull it off.
