Does it count as "Xavier past" if he never played a game?

One poster. And he did not start a new thread to talk about it. Not that I mind this thread. I am interested to see if Sim can play.

In 6 minutes, Sim managed to not jump once, miss his defensive assignment three times, not get back on his hedge at the top of the key, commit two fouls (one over the back) and not record a single rebound.
Needless to say, he has looked AWFUL thus far. Something to think about--chances are if we have Sim on the team still, we probably don't accept Stainbrook as a transfer.

He was also out of organized basketball for a year, so if he had been eligible last year, he might look different this year. That year really hurts a player like him, I think, more than it might Myles Davis or Jalen Reynolds (though I'm sure they'll show rust too)

And although I have yet to see Mr. Stainbrook play a single minute in his new body (a la XU's strength coaches), I'd have to say that Sim not coming to Xavier is a big plus for the Muskies. The big guy from Western Michigan is going to be a gem for us for two years --- bank on it! (It'll be Kenny Frease with whipped cream on top!!!)

Can I ask that you never use that imagery again?

I second and third that, Waggy. Maybe 4th and 5th

Sim needs to drop a few pounds (40-50) and he'll be a good player. I got to think X would have had him in much better condition given what we've seen with Stainbrook.

Is Kenny Frease with whipped cream on top of a bed of nails better for you?

I meant it to be an analogy rather than imagery. But now that you mention it --- I see your point! (Mea culpa; mea culpa; mea maxima culpa!)

What's odd is that Sim lost about 30 pounds when he had originally committed to us, and according to tweets last week, another 60 in the last 3-4 months or so. So if you lose 1/3 of your body weight, and about 100 pounds, and STILL can't manage to run the court, jump for rebounds, or simply gain position in the post, maybe I am glad he didn't end up here. Which is hard to say, because I was one of his biggest advocated originally.
But who cares. I liked Matt Stainbrook before it was cool to like Matt Stainbrook. ALL ABOARD THE STAIN TRAIN!

I was glad when Sim decided to de-commit. I watched last night, he was awful. Players just went right around him to score. Only thing he brings is a huge presence in the middle but if he is that slow I dont see that many benefits.

In my view Sim was always an "extra scholly" type player as it related to X. It was game 1 of his first year regardless, and I didn't think he looked that bad in the 2nd half when I watched. I wish he was on the team.

Agreed. There are other players that would be better served with whipped cream than Kenny.

Agreed. Sim was guaranteed to be a project, never an instant impact guy. When you have 13 scholarships (in a normal year, not after our harshly unique offseason), you sometimes take risks on guys like that. Usually it's a low risk-high reward situation. It's the kind of player that you hope can make contributions as an upperclassman.
That being said, he was almost definitely going to have better opportunities in terms of conditioning and development, so it's a shame for him that he had to pay his way this year and thus felt he needed to choose the cheaper school.

Did he not jump once off one foot or two?

I think most of us believed Sim was a longshot to be a productive player for us. 90% chance of him being average and slow, 10% chance of him turning into a stud.

Big game for Sim over the weekend. 17p/7r in 22m on 7/8 from the field. I'm guessing not a lot of jump shots. Against a pretty good team in SMiss.

At one point in time we had both Bhullars on our radar. Good luck to the both of them, hope it is a good fit in New Mexico.

I hope it's a good fit too. Like, I hope they physically fit in New Mexico.
