Kind of surprised that no one has started this yet.
Okay, like I say about every preseason poll, the final poll will look nothing like this. Close to half the teams won't finish in the rankings, and about one-third of them will miss the NCAA Tournament entirely, or barely get in. Nevertheless, I like the poll. Not so much for its accuracy, but because it is the first real sign that basketball is here, and it does give us something to talk about.

I'm dissapointed that Indiana and Kentucky are not playing. The game in Bloomington was one of the showcases of the season last year, and the two met again in the NCAA Tournament. Had they played this year, both would have likely been ranked in the top five, and it would have been at Lucas Oil Stadium in front of 50K people. You just don't get many showcases like that during the regular season. It would have been an NCAA Tournament atmosphere.
I'm a little surprised that Davidson got no votes. I wasn't expecting them to start off in the rankings, but I do think they're among the teams that will end up there before it's all over, and thought at least one person would have voted for them. They return their entire team from a year ago, and they were pretty good last year.
Murray State's schedule is atrociously weak. I know one of their likely starters just got locked up for trying to, (well, succeeding, I guess) run over someone in a WalMart parking lot, after he gets out of jail, he isn't expected to miss many games. I'm not making this up, btw. In looking at it, I don't see one team that they aren't likely to be favored to beat. They got up as high as #7 last year largely because they kept winning against weak teams and all the good teams ahead of them kept beating each other. I do believe Murray State to be a good team. I think they clearly belong in the top 25. I guess ironic is the right word. I'm saying they're underrated now, but I'm also saying they're be vastly overrated by the end of the year.
Drexel and VCU are likely to be in the rankings as well before it's all over. VCU is dealing with some eligiblity issues, but they should still be pretty good. I really like Drexel. They were good a year ago, and they return pretty much everyone. Unlike last year, they've actually scheduled some decent teams, so hopefully they won't end up on the wrong side of the bubble this year.
