Never heard of this guy. Not a top 150 guy.
Said to be a Xavier lean. I guess this is what we have resorted to because Davon Reed will be a Hurricane.

That is in depth. I see about 8-10 schools, all with medium interest. Basically taking a look at him to see what he's got. Pretty much recruiting 101. He might prefer us, for now, but I dont see an offer or anything else indicating anything but mild interest....
Are you freaking out about this? You seem to be jumpy lately.

Jason Love wasn't a "Top 150" guy either.
We "resorted" to him.........

Yeah, it seems like we've been getting a lot of "top 150" guys lately who aren't really sticking around Xavier for very long.

Saw that he's a 3 star on Scout and had heard that Xavier has gotten interested in of late. If we get him, hopefully he's another one of those guys that's a 3 star but plays like he's a 4 star.

I agree 100%. Why would Xavier want to be in the mix for a player who is also being recruited by Notre Dame, Seton Hall, St. Joe's, Temple, Virginia, and Wake Forest. It's much better to wait and see who Valpo, NKU, Texas State, and East Jesus Baptist want and then set our sights on them.

GG, Muskienick is right. Your post indicates the guy is no good and that Xavier is now "resorting" to this guy. Well, based on the teams recruiting him, he looks like he's a pretty damn good player. I really don't care too much where a player is ranked. I care which teams are recruiting the player. If a guy is ranked 75th but is only drawing interest form IUPUI, Drake and Dayton, that tells me one thing. But if a guy is ranked 175 and he's being recruited by a bunch of decent Big 6 teams, that tells me something else.
But I wish you would stop being so negative about everything. Just about every post you have anymore, including this one, predicts the entire and permanent downfall of the basketball program. We will be back. The program didn't just get lousy overnight.

This is true... it generally takes at least a full off-season...
I'M KIDDING PEOPLE! I faith in Mack and company. We'll be fine and hopefully if this kid fills a need and can help X then I hope he comes here.

Agreed, I trust Mack and Co, a look from Notre Dame, Temple, and Wake Forest obviously can't be too bad, you never know the kid may turn out to be a stud, and have the work ethic of an absolutely animal.

We will see with this recruiting class, season and beyond. What I do believe is this Dez incident, the brawl, as well as Mack's recruiting have caused enough separation and animosity between the basketball side and the administration side that the relationship won't last much longer.
We haven't even scratched the surface with this offseason. does Mack even want to be here much longer? Does the administration even want Mack here for many more years? Myles and Jalen are not the stamp on this horrendous offseason. Any player besides the guy who pushed the player and physically started the brawl and he would still be in school.
I know Mack hasn't recruited many or any great players besides Dez, but he is in on many good players and he is a heck of a coach who made a big mistake that has tarnished his accomplishments up to this point. In my opinion he won't recover from it, much to the chagrin of an administration who has made his life miserable. It's really just sad. If he ends up here even another 5 years there has to be some major damage control.....and we know how the administration handles damage control......pathetically.
I know I go overboard with the negativity, but with this offseason.....it is warranted. You have your opinion and I have mine. Like I said...we will see what happens.

You are 100% wrong in your perception that the relationship between the administration and the athletic department is fractured.
Mack wouldn't be the kind of guy we would want leading Xavier if he were otherwise unable to fight through this adversity. He'll get through all this just fine, and he'll do that at Xavier.

WTF are you talking about? Fact? They're messageboard yahoos. One of whom you give $100 per year to give you heart failure. Who even does that?
BTW, Tifft, or whatever his name is flat blows. Uhm, er, uh, er, uh, uh, uh.... And his analysis wasn't much better. But whatever, just stick to writing dude.

They might be but they have more connections than anybody who posts on this board. Anybody who thinks there is not disconnection....must be really hittin the good stuff. Especially after Mack raves about how good of a kid Dez is.

No, that isn't a fact.
The fact that you believe Mack could hold Dez in such high regard without also being fine with Father Graham, et al is what is revealing.
BTW, I listened to the podcast. At one point, Mack mentioned that Dez made a mistake, but he's a fine young man and will be okay (in so many words).

Dez is simply not polished enough IMHO to go pro after next year. He a super athlete and can dunk with the best of them, but he's undersized at 6'5 and has A LOT of developing before he can make an impact in the NBA

I partially agree but it seems like the NBA drafts on potential quite often, which I think is something Wells definitely has. I wouldn't be shocked if he's drafted after just 1 year on the court at MD.

mehh, idk about this. The NBA drafts bigs on potential, but that is due in large part to the lack of quality bigs out there. Dez is a phenomenal college player, but as others have mentioned he is pretty undersized and unpolished at this point for the NBA. I think he'll be at Maryland for at least two years.

Exactly
It's one thing to draft a 7'2 guy that has potential and a totally different situation for a 6'5 guy who doesn't handle the ball very well and is a suspect shooter (for now at least)

Jordan Crawford averaged 9.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game at Indiana his freshman year on 36.6% 3-point shooting. He played 25.3 minutes per game.
Dez Wells averaged 9.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game at Xavier his freshman year on 37.7% 3-point shooting. He played 26.1 minutes per game.

Apples vs. Oranges, Crawford played behind Eric Gordon, literally off the bench. Dez played not behind but definitely 3rd fiddle to Tu/Mark of which neither has so far made the NBA.

Not sure why who played behind/second-fiddle to whom has anything to do with production while they were actually on the court. I personally expect Dez to be as good or better than Crawford when all is said and done.
