Butler's starting point guard was dismissed from the team. The article doesn't say why though.

There are going to be 2 lonely benches for the season opener at Cintas at this rate. Is Chris Mack or Brad Stevens gonna finish the game with 4 guys on the floor?

Visit the Butler board and you see the same old drivel: Butler is Choir Boy U, so naturally this was decisive action taken so as to not soil the lily white reputation of Huckleberry U.

On the other hand, one of the dimwits in the thread brought-up X and how Butler will never allow itself to become us, or something to that effect. This on the heels of the Dez Wells outcome.

They fluke their way into two F4's and yet they still have plenty of room for Xavier envy.

Here is the difference. Dez did nothing wrong. Obviously this Butler toolbox did something. Our staff wanted Dez Wells around. Brad Stevens and other members of the basketball program determined what this young man did was worthy of dismissing him. Nobody wanted Dez gone on the basketball side.
Dez received the biggest screw job I've ever seen. It is beyond me how I will ever forgive this piece of sh!t administration and joke of a board.

This attitude needs to talk with all schools. The XU fan base had it for awhile, and as we all know, a program's reputation can change quickly. I compare it to political parties playing the morality card, and in the end you just end up looking like a moron.

Fluked their way in to two final fours in a row.... i cant help but think of the righteous indignation that would reign supreme here if the roles were reversed and Butler fans were saying we lucked into two final fours.

Why cant there be more than one good program in this conference?

I know right? (Take that Kahns!)

Why do we hate on Butler's success? I don't hate Butler, I don't think about Butler. I'm glad they are in the conference by far.

I much prefer Butler fluking their way to the Final Four than Kentucky/UConn/Syracuse/Maryland/Duke/Michigan State/Kansas/other power conference school getting there by legitimate or illigitimate means.

"Hopkins dismissed for horseplay with an air gun after already being on shaky ground for alcohol and other infraction. #Butler"

I have no way of knowing if that is true or not, but I would hope the "other infraction" was something serious...

There can be more than one good program in a conference; there had better be. I've always favored Xavier moving up to the BE, so none of this is about not wanting competition from other programs in the conference.

More to the point, with respect to having Butler in the A10, I'm all for it, given that we're in the A10 and that they strengthen the conference, as adding VCU strengthens the conference.

Where I lose respect for Butler as a program is in their fans' perception that Butler's program is so much more principaled than Xavier's program.

p.s. I'm sticking with the "fluke" concept. Horizon League. Lilly White Huckleberry's. Don't get me wrong - I'm happy for them in this specific respect, but the idea that Butler is a bastion of coat and tie and we're all former Eagle Scouts here is a crock. As far as that's concerned, it will be interesting to see how they manage their recruiting strategy to compete in the A10, because Horizon level talent in the A10 is a sure road to hell. Choir boys don't like hell.

And right on cue, they send over karen to hit her knees in order to spread the "truth" about Butler's high, suffocating standards. BTW, having a picture of a dog humping a basketball surely doesn't suggest the Butler Way.

I'm pretty sure their first squad that made it to the championship game, at least, would have been just fine in the A-10. The second one struggled most of the year in the Horizon, so they surely would have struggled in the A-10 as well.

Just to let you know, Karen is a "Xavier fan" trolling as a Butler fan. She came over here right when the Dez thing was happening. There is no possible way another fan from another program just happened to be hanging out here the day this went down.

Add this guy posing as a girl on the ignore list. Nothing but a troll my brother.

Offhand, I notice our game at Butler is at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon (March 9). Perfect March Saturday road trip.

I really want to see the place BEFORE the $25million renovation. You think enough time has passed since the water fountain and clock incidents that I can show my face over there?

You have plenty of time for that. They haven't raised all the money yet.

I read an article that actually stated it could be a few years off. I think they may be replacing windows this year. Hopefully, they'll take out the tacky chain link fencing that blocked out what I presume is a condemned area. Otherwise, they still can't afford Egon Spengler to remove the spores, molds and fungus, so I wouldn't be using any of their remaining dangling water fountains anyway.

Not through Jealousy, Envy, or Anger do I dispise their fans and their program...I just really want to beat them in every way possible. I'm pretty sure I've been through this before.

Which twitter account told you? Just curious.

We posted it here and three minutes you post. That was about an hour before it blew up on twitter. So really which account are you referring to that let you know the moment Xavier announced it at around 4:20 or so, and had you here less than ten minutes later? You certainly didn't get it from Xavierhoops twitter feed they didn't post anything that day, let alone the Dez announcement.

Shannon didn't post it until 4:40, after you were here.

National beat writers didn't start picking up the story until around 5:30.

DeCoursey 5:27
Goodman 5:31
O'Neil 5:36

Lance was around 5:30 and that was after XU's athletic department sent out a twitter feed at 5:23.

I am genuinely curious because I am on twitter and I can't find anything from anyone associated with Xavier before 4:30 that said that Dez got booted. Do you follow Xavier students? Did they knew before the announcement?
