Ultimately, no big deal, but at least supports that Mick is an absolute child with the way he conducts himself. Like coach, like player, I suppose.

Seems pretty odd...why even waste the time announcing 5 months after the fact that they are slapping him on the wrist.

Death penalty. Not the sports kind either.

I remember being at the Shoe with xeus watching the 2008-09 Shootout, watching the gnome stump off the floor after the half and throw his jacket under the bleachers, cussing up a storm and red in the face. This story doesn't exactly shock me. This guy is one of the biggest (and I don't mean literally) babies in all of coaching. How he could earn a kid's respect, or anyone's for that matter, is way beyond my level of comprehension.

Just like Huggy Bear. Way to groom him, Bob.

That was one of my favorite moments of that game!

Did one of Mick's assistants come up to him in the locker room and ask him to remove his shirt and tie (think jersey)?

Yancy Gates, in an effort to show that he doesn't stand for poor sportsmanship, ripped Cronin's shirt off himself, and told him that he would have to see some serious attitude adjustments before deciding whether he was going to be awarded the privilege to represent the University of Cincinnati ever again.

Well, I, for one, am shocked, absolutely shocked, by this announcement. Cronin and his players are such choir boys, and when they act out in a less than flattering manner, it is because they have been verbally taunted by people who say things that make Cronin et al. cry and have self-esteem issues.

Wait! I'll bet that the referee was trash talking Cronin, and therefore Cronin had no choice but to lash out irrationally so as to defend himself from the referee's verbal assault. Why else would this have happened?

How anyone could have believed a word Cronin said in that press conference is beyond me. This is the true Cronin. I'd love to see him talk his way out of this one! No wonder he won't be commenting.

If Mick wouldn't have tugged on the ref's pants leg he never would have known anyone was down there yelling at him.

"Cincinnati had appealed the committee’s original decision to assess the reprimand. The Administrative Committee of the Division I Championships/Sports Management Cabinet reviewed relevant materials, correspondence and statements made during the appeal hearing before making its decision to uphold the reprimand."

So who footed the bill for this appeal? Taxpayers? That's a great use of state funds. I guess uc has money to burn. Idiots.

Almost sounds like a nice parting gift from the old NCAA Basketball Committee chair to the new one.

Why would UC appeal a reprimand? What are they going to use as an argument? No, Mick didn't swear and act like a little jackass? Just stupid, stupid, stupid.

What an unbelievable waste of time.

Five months later, they decide to reprimand Cronin.

Not wanting to be outdone in the area of pointlessness, UC appeals. It was a pointless appeal to a pointless reprimand....five months later.

Damn, these people need some crossword puzzles or something to keep them busy.

If it was worth a five month investigation and appeal and crap, and the finding was that he did in fact do it, shouldn't he be suspended for at least one game? If there is no punishment beyond a reprimand, why even bother?

If he had uncorked on a ref at the beginning of the game, he would have been ejected, right?

The whole thing is a silly waste of time. What a Monday.

I agree that it's all pointless.

But I like that Cronin was embarrassed.

A good friend of mine (who’s third degree cousin has a friend that works at UC’s Athletic Dept. - he mops the area and cleans the trash cans) told me that the Athletic Director will have a news conference tomorrow at 4:00am to announce the punishment UC will impose. The jury is still out, but thus far the forerunner is having Mr. Cronnin wear a T-shirt during the whole season that reads as follows:

Front: “I’m Little Mike, and I Approve the Message on my Behind ‘cause I’m NOT Dumb”

Back: “Never Use Bad Names. Being well Spoken is f UC _ i n g priceless”.
