Welcome to XU Todd! We are excited to have you. We are building a soccer power house and hope you will make us even better. You have made a wise decision for an excellent education and a very good athletic experience.

Go Xavier Soccer!
It was a horrid blustery raining day with cold coming off of Lake Michigan. The good guys even lost to Northwestern last year. But it was great fun as the Xavier soccer family travels very well. Suggest you catch a game or two this year if you haven't been to a game recently.

Can someone fill me in as to the development of our mens soccer program over the last few years? I recently read an article about a DC United player who was from Ohio by the way of Akron who started his career at Xavier. I know Akron has had a top program the last few years, so that caught me by surprise.
I know we stole Dayton's coach which is hilarious. Okay I'm hoping I got that correct.
Anyway, any timeline and summary anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. I had a few buddies that played when I was there in the late 90's.
Thanks!

A top program with a national title to boot.

Absolutely! Andy Flemming took over in 2009, with his first season only resulting in 2 wins I think, then in 2010 lead them to become Atlantic 10 champions, they went to the NCAA Tournament and lost to WVU, same thing happened last year, as they become A-10 champions again, and lost to WVU again in the NCAA Tournament. Almost the entire squad is returning from last year's team, as they gained their first national ranking last year too (I think they got as high as 21?). Also, 3 players from the Xavier Men's Soccer program went on to play travel and win a National Championship a few days ago! So the program is making great strides, if you can, you should definitely go out and watch them play some this year!

Actually he took over in 2010; the 2-loss season preceded his hiring. His 1st team went on a run, won the A-10 championship and advanced to the NCAA tourney -- both for the first time in XU history. They were up 2-0 against WVU early in that first NCAA tourney game, but ultimately lost (in OT, I believe).
Otherwise I think everything else is accurate. We are a program on the rise, and Fleming is definitely a "rising star" among the coaching ranks.

Thanks for the info everyone. Been meaning to get to a game, here's XU's schedule this year:

Looks like they'll be playing in a lot of cities where Muskies fans reside.

I put the September 5 game in Indy on my calendar (IUPUI). Anyone else interested?
