VCU is trying to get ESPN CollegeGameday to come to their campus this year.

They mention that ESPN should come as they are now in the A10. Do they not realize that the A10 is not at the forefront of Gameday visits? When's the last time there was one, maybe the St. Joes #1 year, if that?

I will say I am impressed that VCU was one of only 5 teams to sell out all games last yr (according to that article). I found this site, it's pretty cool; shows all 2012 tourney teams and their attendance in the season before that year (2010-2011 season)...

That year, UK, Wisc, Kansas, and Zaga were the only to sell out the whole year. VCU appears to only hold 7,500 but that's still impressive. Notice, Leigh was last, less than a thousand/game.

I'm perfectly fine never having GameDay at Xavier.

Worst. Show. On. Cable.

You apparently have not been subjected to "Tanked" on Animal Planet (I had my son asleep on my chest and couldn't reach the remote...).

Hey we've been complaining about programs not investing in the A-10 and their basketball. So far VCU is stepping up.

VCU is great. Digger Phelps should be choked out.

Looks like an A10 school has never hosted one.

I have been "Tanked" numerous times. That's a pretty bad show to according to friends.

I do like the idea that VCU feels emboldened by joining the A10, but also worry that they think they are better than the current members and deserve to be the first. Not that it really matters to me one way or 'tother.

I don't know that it has anything to do with feeling better than anyone or being the first in the A-10 to host it. It's just the AD taking the initiative to engage our fan base and get some positive buzz going about VCU whether anything happens or not.

Apparently Gameday will be going to Butler this year for their game against Gonzaga, so it may not amount to anything for this year. At least our name is out there and the ESPN execs know that VCU is out there and wants to do it. It's totally up to ESPN to reciprocate the interest, but in the meantime VCU gets nice pub and mobilizes their fan base. Win-win.

ESPN ignores Xavier and the rest of the A10 to their own peril. Since their beloved BE is continuing to implode they would be wise to expand their focus to teams and conferences with some real success, growth and sustainability - particularly with some stability in the east.

Sometimes there are things so urgent that you simply must wake your children up. I think you had one of those moments and missed it. Priorities, my friend!
