Fordham will be searching for a new AD effective July 1, 2012 (http://www.fordhamsports.com/genrel/052412aaa.html)

In the meantime, Frank McLaughlin at that time will accept a promotion in the Fordham administration and step away from day-to-day operations as Fordham athletic director. He will be "athletic director emeritus", however.

Every few years there always seem to be hope at Fordham.

I could care less they are getting a new AD. They still suck.

The scary/weird thing is how awesome that program could be. Some guy on the A10 posted pics of all the skyscrapers they have or are building on the Fordham campus... It's like Shanghei China.

The facility problem will hold them back. As long as they continue to stage any home games in RHG, they're in trouble.

Nonetheless, let's be fair. FM was a Vice Royal Douchebag. That guy has been a real problem for the wellbeing of that program. There is no guarantee they'll make a good hire, but you would think that they would go for someone who is younger, has energy, and some amount of talent and experience.

We'll see.

Since Shaq isn't interviewing for the Orland GM position, I'd like him to throw his name into the hat. Just because, that's why.

Hopefully the new president sees the light (ie the Patriot League, MAAC, or America East)

They would probably be the big fish in a small pond there.

Did McShane step down?

Sorry I meant AD. Lost track of the entire point of the conversation. I'm going senile at 25...

Dash, it's an entire culture that's the problem. They don't have the culture to put in a new facility. Kids go there because it's a Jesuit school in New York. That's a very good reason to go, but that's it.

The only thing they did well this past season was in soccer. Hell they don't even have a lacrosse team.

Sports don't matter to them. They have NYC. We have an awesome basketball team. No younger, hungrier, more energetic AD is going to turn that culture around.

Just look at Duquesne.

I'm not sure he could do any worse!

An occasional glimmer of hope is a lot to expect from Fordham, just be careful not to get carried away because disappointment is basically inevitable.

Exactly. I mean it was what a year or so ago where we learned they were going to do a major campaign? What's the update with that?

The AD is leaving! They will bring in another one who will have the same effect on people.
