Can, the guy ever acknowledge anything?
When asked if he had any inkling that the suspension was coming. Coach replies, "No, it just happened this week."
Really, coach? You had no idea that a player is having academic issues, when same player was suspended earlier in the season for same type of issues?
Then, Coach states Melo didn't let anyone down.
I beg to differ coach. He let all of his teammates down by not doing what he is opposed to be doing.
Jim Boeheim is a complete DOUCHEBAG!

He didn't let his team down. He got them a #1 seed AND an excuse to lose in the tournament, like Big East teams do.

What would you expect any coach to say under similar circumstances?

To be fair, he's had a lot on his plate this year; assistant coaches molesting boys, drug addicts on his team, playing in what ESPN would have you believe is the world's best basketball conference, and so forth. That's a lot to keep straight.

I expect him to be a man.
I have never seen a coach who claims to know so little about HIS program.
It's PATHETIC!

See John Calipari, re: Derrick Rose.

What's the over / under on the number of years until Calipari has something happen at UK?

Depends if he wins the title this year, and takes the Knicks job that will be thrown at him. Mmmmmaybe he could skate by without vacated games.

John Wall was ineligible for a few games to start his season. Eric Bledsoe also had some questions about his eligibility. I imagine it won't be very long.

I've said this before but it is so hard being a UK fan and Xavier fan and be active in this board. I went to UK and have always loved Xavier since I was a youngster but damn sometimes you all sound like haters.
Ps I know I'll get blasted for saying this I just couldn't help it!

Yup we are all hating on Coach Cal for getting caught at cheating.
Did anyone see that horrible call by the ref for Cuse last night? What in the world was he looking at?

Everything stated in this thread about UK isn't hating, its truth. I have quite a few friends who are foolish enough to be UK fans. When they hired Cal they rejoiced but openly admitted that UK had just sold its soul in terms of basketball, only a matter of time until Cal lets them down.

I hate Jim more than ever because of his comments. Not because he was talking out of his ass, but because I had to agree with Doug Gottlieb, something I've never done before. I feel dirty.

Admitting to being a Kentucky fan? You've got issues.
It's kind of hard not to see a pattern with Calipari, is it not? I mean, getting once Final Four vacated, sure, it happens. But two? Well, that's unprecented. Literally. No one else has ever done it. Why would anyone not expect it to happen again?
It's a little fishy sure, but when you go after the best of the best year after year it also seems like common sense that those players have more opportunity to do things they are not supposed to do. I still argue how is Cal supposed to know that a player cheats on a test in high school, or whether or not he knows an agent is giving one of his players money. (little more fishy lol)
Ultimately, you are right the blame has to go on the coach so I'm not arguing that, but to call the man a scum bag when both situations were "mild" at best. At least for Cal's part in all of it. At Memphis, it was ruled he did nothing at all.
I can understand raising an eye brow but some of you all act like he's the devil and I don't see it. What ever happened to redemption anyways??? The guy will win the championship some year and then even after he's dead it'll be like "he cheated".

I have not doubt Calipari, or at least someone in the Memphis administration firewalled from Calipari, was getting daily updates on Rose's eligibility.

While most teams have Senior Night, UK has Freshman Night each year. I hate Calipari and I hate the UK admin for hiring him to such a long-term stellar program.

There's got to be a pocket-protector and 23 pens under that unbelieveably horrible jacket. How the hell did he get that vixen of a wife? (Oh, that's right! There are many million$ of reasons why he got her.)

No. Other. Coach. Has. Had. Two. Final. Fours. Vacated.
Calipari obviously structures his cheating so that he has plausible deniability. He is very good at that. I think that a lot of Xavier fans don't like him because he stands for the complete opposite of what most of us think College basketball should be.
I can't wait to see him go to the NBA again. It's going to be an epic flameout. Calipari is a great recruiter but a mediocore coach, IMHO. He won't be able to have better talent than everybody else in the NBA. There is a reason none of his loaded teams have ever won a title. He isn't that good of a coach.

He won't make the same mistake twice. It would be funny if he took the Duke job once Mike Krzyzewski retires. If you thought UK fans hate Rick Pitino...

I got to thinking about Syracuse the other day and there is only one quality NBA player from the Orange. Carmelo Anthony. The rest are all poor.
http://espn.go.com/nba/players/_/college/183
Is it just a system that doesn't translate to the NBA?
Cal puts his assistants in charge of all the areas where cheating could be involved. That way when he is questioned he can honestly say he had no knowledge. The system has worked for him at three stops now.

Or a system that gets more out of players than their raw talent? I can think of another successful team that hasn't exactly been spitting out NBA All Stars either. :)
Also, Hakim Warrick isn't exactly chopped liver. He's at least an NBA rotation player.

It also means we're 19 years from Chris Webber getting away with a blatant traveling call that was never made in the national title game against UNC. Some guys get all the luck...
