Belmont is severely underrated (#23 on Kenpom, #33 on Sagarin) with solid defense and one of the best offenses in the game. Their five starters and one bench player have nationally ranked offensive ratings per Kenpom, while other players have great ratings themselves but just not enough minutes to get ranked. So, it's not just a one- or two-man show. Their effective FG% ranks top 5 in the nation, because they shoot 3s at 38.1%, 2s at 54.7% (ridiculous!), and FTs at 73.6%. Note: They do get blocked a lot. They take good care of the ball too and share the ball well, assisting 62% of FG made.

They do match up against an EXCELLENT defense in Georgetown, but I'm still smelling an upset bid. I think if they beat Georgetown though, they have a great chance of winning the second game too.

So, I'm taking a Sweet 16 bid for Belmont as one of my risky picks, because something unexpected like this seems to happen every year.

Georgetown at a 3 seed is a joke!!

Georgetown can play some very bad basketball. As always it depends on which team comes to play.

I am rooting hard for every Big East team to fall. Go Belmont!
