Jason tees off at 4:15 Eastern (3:15 Central).

It was low 40's when the morning group teed off. It is 69 now for Jason's tee time, and the low tonight is supposed to be 48, so it looks like he is getting the best weather combo. They have high-wind warning in LA today, but Riviera is sort of secluded, so there shouldn't be a lot problems with the wind.

+3 after 5 holes. Just doubled the 5th.

5 after 9. He definitely should have taken this week off!

How about Mickelson, though? Picked up right where he left off last weekend.

Jason was +7 after 13 when darkness stopped the round. He has been solid on the restart. He is -2 today and +5 through 17. He will move straight on to round 2 when he finishes. Maybe he can put together a solid day and make the cut after all. He was 131 of 143 when play was halted. He is T114 at the moment. The cut will be over par, so it really isn't that much of a stretch if he can hit the fairways off of the tee. So far, he is 5 for 13 in round 1. 38% won't cut it with kikuyu rough.

Jason is -1 through 7 on round 2. He is 1 shot off of the cut line.

I was wondering if he'd bother showing up today. Today has been impressive whether he ends up making the cut or not.

At +4 it looks like he might need to make up 2 more to get to the projected cut of +2.

GoMuskies

The cut will be +3, I think. People are moving backwards, not forward, on average. And there are currently 69 players at +2 or better. I don't see the number of players at +2 or better getting higher.

EDIT: Amazing. Jason is on the good side of the cut line now at +3. With only 67 guys at +2 or better, the +3 cut is firming up.

Go called it. Cut is now +3 and Jason is under the cut line after being -2 through 10.

Another birdie at #2 (he started on the back) to get to +2 and a tie for 47th. He's absolutely on fire. The leaders are at -5 for the tournament, and he is -5 for his last 16 holes!

XUglow
02-17-2012, 02:53 PM
He just stuffed it in to 3'3" on his 11th hole (#2) and made the put. He is now at -3 for the day and +2 for the tourney. FYI. #2 is always one of the hardest par 4's on the tour every year.

Jason was +7 after 12 holes with no birdies, 5 bogies, and a double. Since, he is -5 on 17 holes with 12 pars and 5 birdies. What a difference a day makes.

Cut has moved back up to +2. Jason is at +2 with 3 holes to go. This is going to be a tight one.

Cut has moved back up to +2.

Paul knows golf? (I don't think so)

Come on Jason. Hang in there.

BOOSH! Jason birdies his 18 and finishes at -4 for the day and +1 for the tournament. Gives himself some breathing room as these late groups go off.

Someone show this to the basketball team and tell them it is possible to turn around ugly. Jason was soooooo dead when he came off of the course yesterday.

-6 today for the 23 holes that he played today. If he keeps that up, he will earn himself another great payday!

Paul knows golf?

Looks like it. I'm shocked that the cut is so close to +2 (it is back to +3 for now, though).

To Glow's point, if he plays tomorrow like he did today, he won't just be in the mix for a nice payday; he'll be right in the hunt for the lead!

For those who think PGA Tour golf is all about the flat stick: Jason improved by 9 shots from Round 1 to Round 2 (76 to 67) but only had 2 fewer putts in Round 2 than he did in Round 1.

As much as he played a superb Round 2, he is playing the weekend b/c he averted absolute disaster and held it somewhat together in Round 1 even when he was hitting it all over the place.

Can you say GRINDER

Somewhere along I-71 MOR is smiling and probably wants to toast Jason's performance.

Not being able to finish his round yesterday was probably the difference in making the cut or not.

Bit of a falter now. Three bogeys over the last five holes has him at -2 for the day,-1 overall, tied for 23rd with 3 holes left.

Tough finish. Was -5 for the day going into his 12th and gave 4 of them back. Even.

Jason is -1 through 2. Let's hope he keeps it up.

GoMuskies

-1 again through 10.

This weekend is already a success for Kokrak. He gets to -2 and it will be a very unlikely top 20.

Jay's 3rd round started on the back 9 and was on fire. He can easily go -4 in the last 7 holes. Only 2 bogeys on the back 9, none since the first round

Can he possible crack the top 64 and be eligible for the World Match Play next week or do they use last week's rankings?

awayfan

it looks like the field is set for next week.

Jason is even for the tournament with 3 to play

joe titan
02-19-2012, 04:22 PM
the field for Match Play was set after Pebble Beach and World Ranking list is much different format than money earned; Jason's World Ranking is approximately 150.

His 2012 Money can potentially qualify him for Players in May and US Open in June if he moves into Top 50
There 2 events next week but I did not check to see if he entered the other.

Jason is not in the field of the Mayakoba Classic.

Ugly finish (bogied three of last four to finish +2 for the round and for the Tournament), but given the +7 start I can't imagine Jason is walking away from this weekend disappointed. $25k or so in prize money, perhaps?

Great rally after Thursday's start but he went in the tank at the end of the 3rd and 4th round after he was going good which cost him a lot of money.

GoMuskies
02-19-2012, 04:52 PM
Projected to get $31k and move to #62 on the money list. Could have been better....but it looked like it was going to be $0.

Man, Sergio shot a -7 and moved 45 places on sunday.
Haas may hold on if no one birdies 18. He lives down the road in Greenville, SC
