Who is on your wish list for 2013? (guys we have a shot with)

I'm not sure how "in" we are with each of these guys, except that we are recruiting them, but I want either McClinton/Zeigler/Farmer at SF.

Someone like Kyle Washington down low would be nice. We will need a big body, and I don't see us getting Kennedy Meeks. I hope we don't take Maverick Morgan. I'm not too high on him at this point. Let him go to Dayton.

Devin Williams - PF from Withrow HS (Cincinnati)

I would have included him if we didn't have two PF's coming in next year.

Don't know much about him other than that he is pretty highly thought of.

I think Jackson is all Irish from what I have been reading. I have not heard any news on Washington, Colbert or Meeks? Do we really have a good shot at landing these two?

I have heard we are his favorite too. I would definitely be ok with getting him as a start to the class. Looks like we will be going with the 2 PF set for a while. Again, OK by me.

He's a different type of PF though, more of a bruiser than an athletic one.

We could use a bruiser. We've got no beef inside with Kenny leaving.

Devin Williams -PF, Top two are Xavier and WVU.

Davon Reed- SG, Top two are Xavier and Harvard.

Tony Farmer- SF, High on Xavier, but is all Michigan State if they offer.

Fourth spot to the best available talent regardless of postion; EC Matthews, Jon Severe, Maverick Morgan, Greg McClinton, Tate Lyle, or Kris Jenkins.

I watched EC Matthews last night in Dearborn, MI against Edsel Ford High school. He is a big combo guard a 6'4. He has a really good feel for the game and gets the ball in the hands of his teammates in the right spots to score. He has a really good handle and is a crafty scorer. He has very good body control and does a good job with the euro step move and crab step. He looked like he was laboring a bit do to a lingering injury, but he is a solid player.

Kris Jenkins' recruitment is blowing up with his performances on ESPN. I would think that the Big East or ACC is where he ends up if he continues to play well. Xavier is in the mix still.

I am FINE with an athletic and powerful 6'8 Center. How many guys did our 7 footer dominate?

Give me a Jamel McLean, Anthony Myles, Torraye Braggs, or Jason Love in the middle and I will be thrilled. 3-5 inches in height is soooooooo overrated at the college level.

Not true. Maybe 6 months ago to 1 year ago, but not now. Where did you hear he was still a lock at Arizona?

I thought Demetrius Jackson committed to Notre Dame?

Arizona is not recruiting Chris Thomas. Xavier is the leader with Mizzu, Iowa State, and Seton Hall trailing. If Jackson does not go to ND it would be a shock.

Thomas is a very realistic possibility for us. He would probably be a one and done but if Semaj and Jalen are beasts by their sophomore year adding him to a team with those guys and Dez could make us a real national contender. I'd say my dream class as of now (assuming Thomas comes without baggage which I'm not as worried about as I was a year ago) would be some combination of Thomas, Kris Jenkins, Devin Williams and Davon Reed.

I don't know about Kris Jenkins, a 6'5 power forward? You think that could translate to the D1 level, or would we drop him down to the 3? (If he were to commit obviously)

How? He can establish his eligibility in JC and then immediately play at a D1 school, while remaining within the 2013 class for transitioning to college. Not much changes except I believe a JC year would take from his years of eligibility.

The junior college transfer rules (course requirements in particular) essentially require a player to attend JC for 2 years to be cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse.

EDIT: Although it may be possible to do on a year and a half (especially with summer courses), if he is driven to do so. Problem is that his history does not demonstrate that academic drive. And in addition to the NCAA JC core, he'd also have to maintain a 2.5 GPA to qualify.

I've been watching him since he was 14 and trust me, he is going to be a stud in college. Everyone looks at his height and makes that assumption but he is wide-bodied and can score from anywhere. He just won DC's Gatorade POY and won POY of the best high school conference in the country (and his teammate is 5 star UNC commit PG Nate Britt.) He also had several shut-down defensive efforts against high D1 prospects. There is absolutely no chance that he is not a good college player.

I agree. I think he'll be a great college player. I'd love to get him. Isn't most of the ACC all over him now though? I don't know how good our chances are, even though I heard they used to be pretty good.

I don't believe he is actually playing ball in JC. The guys over at Scout don't seem to think any rules will keep him from being able to go to JC for one year and then sign with a D1 school.

I don't know Thomas, but it sounds more like a kid who just needs to grow up than a kid who has any real fed flags or bad baggage. I'm okay with taking a chance on that and it wouldn't be the first time. It's not like he has a criminal record or serious character issues to the best of my knowledge. Does anyone know of anything worse about him that I don't?

It doesn't matter if he's played. If he is enrolled FT at the JC then it would be considered a transfer under NCAA rules.

In order to transfer after just 1 year of JC and play immediately, he would have to have qualified out of HS (he may have, but with all those transfers I'm going to guess he did not), taken a FT course-load at the JC, and maintained a minimum 2.5 GPA at the JC.

If he was a non-qualifier or partial qualifier out of HS, to play immediately at the D-1 level he would first have to gain qualification at JC -- which now requires that he graduate with an associates' degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA and no more than 2 phys ed courses. Otherwise, he could still transfer, but he would be treated as a non-qualifier (FT student, no financial aid, no practice) for his first year.
