The Lexus in the desert has engine problems. 89th in RPI. 7th in the crappy PAC 12. Must be sand in the gas tank.

SucKS is 101. You play a pastry cart schedule and then you lose a few, you are in trouble.

XU is now 47th after last night. Just win, baby.

Now, I agree w/ you about uc. However, you just know that if they finish 9-9 or 10-8 in the big east and are in 7th or 8th place, it won't matter what their rpi is - the national pundits will say there are in because the big east "deserves" 8 spots.

As far as Xavier goes, the sole focus should be GW. Beat GW. Nothing else matters right now. One game at a time.

Does the A-10 still have 9 or 10 teams in the top 100 in the rpi?

9 in the top 100. Richmond is 111, only 10 less than the Borecats.

UC won't get in at 9-9 in the Big East. They would be on the right side of the bubble at 10-8, IMO. Having said that, I fully expect them to make the tournament.

Bobinski was on at halftime last night, and mentioned that the NCAA was going to make available on the internet the same team reports the selection committee receives. I had heard this before, but his interview was a reminder. He spoke in the current tense, so I looked but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know if these are available yet? And more importantly, give me a link..

Maybe they will release them at the same time the committee gets them. Then you can play selection committee in your own computer room!

If you want to see what they look like, click on the school you want to look at, and then click on the link that says "NCAA SELECTION SHEET" on the left. That's pretty much dead up what they look like.

The only thing that you don't see is the NABC rankings, and that's pretty much because no one does. Essentially one coach from every conference votes for the top fifteen teams in their geographic region. It's very much like the coaches' poll. The committee also interviews that coach at some point. Other than that, it's pretty much the same as far as what's on the team sheet.

I don't know who this guy is, but he must have had something to do with the selection committee at some point, or at the very least known someone who did. The bad news is that you can only look at so many before he asks you to subscribe, but you can look at a few for free to see what they look like.

Well, the guy's not infallible; he's got SIU as an away game instead of neutral.

Here's another good site that lays out good stuff on one page:

We certainly don't stick out on paper.

How do they determine "team in danger"? Is it so many negatives?

It seems to have a direct connection to your performance in the last 10 games.

We've got work to do...anyone that thinks we're definitely in needs to re-evaluate these sheets.

I'm officially worried...but I was before I saw these sheets.

Public reps Waggy (???)

As to our home losses to top 50 RPI teams, I'm not sure that hurts us, as much as it helps those teams. Also, we obviously were not at full strength for all those games. More worrisome is Hawaii, but again not at full strength.

I sort of wish we had more top 50 teams left in our remaining games to improve our overall standing.

But, knowing the strength issue (which many teams face for a variety of reasons) I think the last 10 games, and how you look coming out of conference, are the key. One down, nine to go.

Just a note, the committee CONSIDERS when a team isn't at full strength, but CONSIDERING is not the same as DISMISSING. Those losses still hurt.

You can say that about a lot of teams. You still have to try and find 68 teams. Xavier is 5-6 against the top 100, has a winning road record and a pretty good sos. Xavier needs to win out at home and try to avoid going 0fer against Memphis, Temple, UMASS and SLU on the road. If Xavier wins out at home and goes 3-2 in the remaining road games they will be in great shape. That would put them at 21-9, 8-2 in the last 10, and a winning road record along with some solid wins. One thing is for sure, they do not have much margin for error.

It's less than 50 with at-larges who otherwise would not have garnered bids. We are very borderline.

I agree but so are a bunch of teams. Beat gw and Memphis this week and things will look much better.
