Fun fact: Harouna Mutombo is the nephew of Dikembe Mutombo.

ETA: And he plays guard. Way to mess up the family tradition, kid.

Western Carolina went on a 17-2 run down the stretch to win by 102. Sorry about your luck.

I'm sure WCar will be criticized for running up the score.
I see their starters only averaged 15 minutes. Not much more you can do.

UC apparently is in negotiations to play that team twice next year.

That reminds me of somoene in Vegas who was eagerly watching a footbal game that was late in the 4th quarter with one team up 28. This was in a sports book, and when asked why he was so nervous with the game that far apart. "Well, the spread is 30!"

So that starters only played 15 minutes, which means we are talking bench and maybe even walk ons played most of the game.

What can do do at that point - get the ball and then dribble it around until the shot clock expires. That would eat clock to get the game over with, without further widening the gap.

I'm guessing there is no mercy rule they could invoke. Surrender?

Is that team historically that bad, or did something noteworthy happen, like the entire starting five getting suspended, ill, injured, etc all at once? The name doesn't ring any bells.

I'll watch for them on the Cats 2012 OOC scheulde.

Toccoa Falls holds open try outs for their team. They play in the NCCAA, an organization made up of small christian schools. Essentially they are like playing an NAIA team. A fairly bad NAIA team that went 11-14 last year.

Before Tardy decided to go all snide on me, I was goign to post that UC replaced the Crosstown game with this. You know Mick is on a campaign to keep making it look like the team is improving by scheduling more and more cupcakes each season.

Even Coach Mack wouldn't get hurt in that lay up/dunk drill.

Not scheduling Non-D1 opponents comes to mind. I guess if you have a hole in your schedule or something...but seriously?

It is beyond my why any div1 program would schedule an NCCAA school. I remember this game from a few years back. I didn't realize it was against the same Toccoa Falls team.

The NCCAA, as I understand it, is essentially intercollegiate intramurals. Several members are also part of the NAIA, but it's the lower division, and I don't think Toccoa Falls is. It would literally be like scheduling Cincinnati Christian (who has an NCCAA team). There's no point. It's not really good or fair to the players on either team.
