Yeah I said it, Xaggy fan. Hatred. You and your little program that is an Espn fav, suck.

Your pathetic attempt at building a building as nice as Cintas sucks. Your NCAA record that isn't as good as Xavier's sucks. Your avoidance at playing Xavier until last year sucks.

My avatar says a lot. Xavier is playing a triumphirate of bulldogs this year. I'm sick of freakling ugly bulldogs. Yeah, Gone-zaga, your mascot and nickname is Bulldogs, not the xiggy-xaggys.

Bulldogs. Bulldogs? How f-ing original.

Yale has bulldogs. Georgia has bulldogs. Drake, Butt-ler and Mississipi State have Bulldogs. There are 39 colleges that use Bulldogs as a mascot. Nothing like setting yourself apart.

Bulldogs is the name you call yourself when you are not creative. So, then, because you're too stupid and lazy to come up with a really unique and colorful nickname, someone in the stupid and lazy media does it for you. The bubble-headed commentators don't want to keep saying a multi-syllabic word like Gone-zag-a, so, of course they shorten it to "xags." That's cute and it rolls off the tongue.

Naturally, the nature boys of the Selkirk Mountains, who smoke the local tree, just assumed the alternate name "xags". Simple and it fits with "zigs" since that describes how they usually walk in their drugged up state. Then they put it on their uniforms and play soft and recruit crying wimps like Morose-son and his ilk who whine at the drop of a hat.

They and their trumped up program are charlatans, frauds and imposters. They fit perfectly into a time gap in B-Espn programming because the Big Greased doesn't play games at 11:00pm. They deserve to be noted for what they really are- impotent milquetoasts who hug salmon while high on their own home grown fatties.

I repeat what I said last year, and it has not diminished with time.

This is an "head exploding" game for me. I'm sick of the cute Xaggys. I'm sick of them getting undeserved poll recognition, favorable seedings, commentator love and national TV CBS games all when they have done no where near as much as Xavier has- and for a shorter time period. All they could build was a new arena 60% the size of XU's when they built the "kennel.". They've somehow made playing in the 16th rated conference and making one Elite 8 into a brand. Xavier's done more and been held down by the man.

F- going out on New Year's Eve. There is an epic battle to be won. I will be swilling Smithwicks and Christmas Ales well before 8:00pm Eastern tonight. As soon as the Grandkids left, the beard stubble growth has emerged- not to be cut. I'm kicking cats and punching dogs. I'm eating only raw meat. I'm back dressed in burlap and sackcloth. I've girded my loins and won't shower. My state of mind is dark, brooding and forboding. I'm already snarling at trophy wife and am about to enter the man cave not to emerge until 10:30pm after I listen to CMack's post game victory speech. This is war...and it's ugly

But when it's all over, I'll be sipping the sweet taste of Moet, spraying it all over the man cave and sharing the cup of victory with Trophy Wife as we celebrate another historic win and the advent of a New Year. Yeah, Gangstas drink quality champagne.

Suck it, Xaggys, suck it!

Sounds like someone NEEDS a prescription for a little tree.

I'm sure it will be a fun night for all.

I've never liked Gonzaga. They seem to be full of themselves and have always been resistant to playing X. Honestly, I'm shocked that they agreed to a series.

Serious question -- what is the head-to-head record b/w Gonzaga & Xavier?

I just laugh every time I see our Jesuit fan base begin a 'hate' thread for some stupid shit.

It's just so predictable and disappointing at the same time.

That being said, I wanna kick their ass tonight.

We may want to beat the Zags one of these days to back up our claims that we're actually better. Doesn't help when the last three games against them have been losses, all at different locations: one at a neutral site in the tourney, last season at their place, this year at ours.

At the end of the day, this is correct. Xavier can make all the claims they want, yet Gonzaga is 3-0 in their last 3 match-ups...long way to go to prove they're the "better" team/program...neg rep me all you want to folks...heck, check my post history if you will, pretty petty I've been dealt such hatred, bitterness, abuse for contributing honest, open, & discussion worthy posts. Talk about an unwelcoming message board around these parts, nothing compared to Gonzaga's logical, sound, & hearty discussion forum. Pretty sad if you ask me...look to see how many visitors are berated on the Zags' board. GUBoards.com.

They've kicked our ass two straight years. Say what you want, they prove it on the court. I'm sick of this inferiority complex jealousy crap toward Gonzaga. Good program, great coach. They didn't ask for ESPN to kiss their rear ends, but they sure as hell weren't going to turn down that attention, were they?

Also, now that I think about it, they double kicked our ass this year, given that Monson was the guy that got them going.

I agree that we'd be better off showing more respect and more welcoming for posters from other fan bases. We need to simply accept that we are a very good program and part of a relatively small group of very good programs. The decades of feeling disrespected can pass away. I think we can accomplish that even in our own city, even in the presence of a lot of UC fans that can't stand to see us that way.

I wonder if Gonzaga fans have any feel at all for what the UC-XU rivalry is like. I think that our intra-city rivalry has been a huge influence in how we see our program and the sensitivities we have as fans.

Last week I visited the Gonzaga board via a link here. While I agree that the posters were overall more polite to posts from an XU fan who tried to bring some clarification about the fight, I was dismayed and found myself disgusted to some extent by the huge display of judgement and moral shock in posts about our team and program, including rush-to-judgement, hysterical misinterpretation of the facts, calls to cancel the game and for the NCAA to cancel our season, even an expression of fear of entering the Cintas Center while wearing GU shirt and hat.

I hope the XU-GU series continues and that we can through that push each of our programs to become better and remember that we are part of a bigger fraternity in our common heritage as institutions.

MOR, you're a great fan and your support of this team is unparalleled, but sometimes you just have to give a team its due. Gonzaga hit big shots, out-hustled us on the boards, and generally looked like the better coached team last night. Just like Pedro Martinez said about the Yankees in '04, you just have to tip your hat to them and call them your daddy. (Of course, those Red Sox went on to win the WS so who knows?)

Yep...UC has thrived since the brawl we've died. Cronin ain't as bad a coach as some of you guys think he is.

UC had the tremendous benefit of playing a bunch of patsies after the brawl.

They also lost Gates, who's a key peice of the puzzle, but they didn't lose 3 starters for 1 game and 2 starters for a second game. All guards who are the engine of a team.

Oklahoma is not a good. They're picked to finish last in the Big 12 this year. Pitt is reeling right now with three straight losses.

Before you start donning Cronin a good coach, lets see how this thing looks a month from today.

Totally agree. We don't have any mojo right now. I'm hearing some rumblings that this team isn't a "team".

Mack has his work cut out for him.

Props to Gonzaga. They came into our house and manhandled us.

I wish them luck the rest of the year. When you get beat, you tip your hat to the victor. Here's my chapeau nod.

For XU? Our forwards cannot rebound. It is becoming pathetic.

That's all I've got. I'm full of disappointment right about now. This is about the worst 3 week period I can remember for Xavier basketball in the last 28 years.

This team is fully capable of running the table the rest of the way out, but there are a lot of things that need to get fixed. I hope that they can be.

Oklahoma isn't great, but they aren't bad. They entered the game with just one loss, and that included decisive wins against Oral Roberts and Arkansas. Cincinnati has played better than Xavier since the brawl.

Get over yourselves with all of this Gonzaga apologist garbage.

"We are 0-3 and they deserve the ESPN recognition, we don't... And blah, blah, f-ing blah..."

Bullshit.

They get ALL of the calls no matter who they play due to their ESPN darling status.

Have one the vilest and well documented trash talkers in the NCAA? Dont worry - still get all the calls.
Smashes game ball repeatedly against his own head delaying game and taunting? NBD, you're a great story because of your body's inability to manage blood sugar.

We are 0-1 against those privileged pompous west coast hippies. The diabetes storyline stole the refs from us in the tourney game and we got beyond homered last year in Spokane. If you don't agree, you're delusional.

That being said, X lost a game they could have won because the Zags had the the stones we used to have to make big shots when they mattered most. Kudos to them, better team won that day.

Time to imbrace the Anti hero status that ESPN wants us to have and get our swagger back. I'd rather be Han Solo over whiny little Luke Skywalker any day.

I'd be happy with 40 minutes of solid basketball on both ends of the court. Executing and WINNING creates "swagger" (whatever the hell that is), not the other way around.
