Is it too soon to call for his head? We haven't had one of these threads in a while.

The crowd has pitchforks in their hands and they are calling for blood.

FIRE MACK!!

Clearly you were asleep during the game last night. No one is saying fire him, he needs to earn his fat paycheck. His coaching and leadership so far this year has been a C at best. He can do better.

I'm thinking Nuts was being facetious. But if not, just give him a jello shot.

But yeah, I think the Fire the coach threads are a rite of passage. So Chris is officially a Xavier coach, folks are calling for his head (even if in jest) after the first major rough spot.

While it would be absurd for anyone to call for the firing of Chris Mack, most of this skid falls directly on his shoulders:

1. The starters should never have been in the game up 20 with 30 seconds to play against UC.
2. Tu and Lyons never should have been allowed to speak at the post-game press conference
3. The teams response/mental preparation in the last 3 games has been woeful.

These should all be addressed/prevented by the coaching staff.

I am all for Mack and staff. However.... they should be held accountable for these events more than anyone else.

Things will turn around. The season will be fine, but maybe not exceptional as we once had expected. The sky is not falling, but is definitely a bit bleaker.

Exactly what should that accounting look like?

Start a Mack Sucks chant at the next home game?
Hold up "It's All Mack's Fault" signs?
Community service?
Or should he have been suspended for games as well?

Short of firing or suspending a coach, what else can be done? How are the coaches to be help responsible?

He's already OVER apologized, as has those above him and OVERLY admitted fault.

We could all stand up at the first TV timeout and wag our fingers at the XU bench and say, "Shame, shame, shame. Shame on you Chris Mack."

You really need to chill.....

I don't recall saying that he needs to do anything else, or apologize anymore. Simply that most of this teams struggles fall on his shoulders, as they should. And he should be held accountable for those struggles. No more... No less.... This was all avoidable with some common sense from a coaching/leadership perspective. I believe he will learn from this and never put his team in a position for something like to this to happen in a game that was already in the bag with tempers obviously flaring.

He said, "He was caught up in the moment and rivarly and should have pulled those guys." He also has admitted he should have not let them speak at the press conference.

He is right and it is costing us royally now. He was taken accountability as he should, but that doesn't mean people will simply say, "okay... No worries... It is behind us now."

Until we turn this ship around, Mack will continue to be held accountable for the current state of this team.

As I have said, he will turn it around. However, a portion of the beauty of this season has been lost and cannot be regained. Come mid A-10 season, I believe all will return to the norm and be right.

I thought XU learned after the Ohio State game, that you don't let a team tie the game w/ a three. Foul the player in the back court, let them take their FT's and then you will get fouled and the team most likely ices the game w/ little or time left.

Agree.. Why is TU and Lyons out clapping and laughing during the Hawaii game? On court behavior needs to be addressed to and added to the list. I am not ready to call for the firing of Mack yet but if this team cannot get back mentally then it should be considered at seasons end. Look at the bright spot he probably won't get recruited by a Big East or Big 10 school during the offseason.

You are kidding right? If you cannot clap or laugh while playing, what is the point. They were clapping and laughing in the first half, having fun and then in the 2nd half that went away and they lost. I want this team playing and having fun, right now they are not having fun and it shows. They were having fun for awhile in the first half the other night and they built a big lead. Sports is about having fun and if not it is not worth it. You don't need to talk but you need emotion and you need to have fun. It is sports after all.

Its over. Cancel the rest of the games. Think long and hard about canceling the program too.

In fact, shut down the university, city, state, midwest, country, continent, world, solar system then the Known universe.

Lets all move to a planet trillions of light years away in that kurt russell movie stargate thing and start over with a new program, introduce the game to aliens, and hire nic cage as our head coach.

Lets hope the ncaa doesn't hit us with recruiting violations of non humans

Unfortunately when we beat ud again, they can legitimately blame jet lag from crossing 1,254,654,785,796,987,857,954,452,854,876,986,521, 675 time zones

Spot on J. Getting damned sick and tired of all the gloom and doom. Just because some of us can't see what happened, doesn't mean we have to go postal and start the BS fire coach threads. Let's get real.:p:D

Lol...you got it a little backwards. The only time they were laughing and clapping was when they were ahead. That stopped because they started losing. It was all about taunting the other players, and when they didn't have anything to taunt them about, they had to stop.
