That boy is to Purdue what Holloway is to Xavier.
He's simply a dagger in the side to the opponent.

Hated to see him be taken out on a stretcher after the game.
That boy has been through enough already.

God Speed.

WTF??? He went out on a stretcher with cramps? I have never heard of such a thing.

I love Hummel. I wish Purdue nothing but luck the rest of the way. Class CLASS program.

It was full body cramps. I don't think he could walk.

That had to be painful. Hope he recovers quickly.

It was full body cramps. I don't think he could walk.

After an athletic competition, I've had both quads, both hamstrings and both calves cramping at the same time. You really can't walk if that happens.

And I'm sure Hummel had it like 10x worse than I did.

As annoying and painful as cramps are, it shouldn't sideline him for too long.

That being said... I definitely feel bad for the guy. It was games like today that probably motivated his rehab efforts the past 2 seasons and he had to leave the game in crunch time. Throughout the first 30-some minutes of the game today, I couldn't help but think if he had been healthy last year, along side JaJuan Johnson and E'Twaun Moore, Purdue would have likely run the table.

I finally watched the replay of the game (thanks to the ESPN app on Xbox 360) and seeing it all happen just made my heart drop for the guy. After all the injury stuff he's been through, to fizzle out like that in a huge game due to body cramps is just awful. Good thing it wasn't the knee.

But for the sake of the rest of his mental state throughout the season, I hope this was just a temporary hiccup. Don't want to be going out every game thinking, "I wonder if my body is going to give up on me?"

His hamstrings were both cramping and that caused the back to seize up. Not a good combination.

Amen to that. Hummel is one of the good guys. I will put in a good word at Mass today. I have some connections up top and we should be able to take care of him. I would like to see him do very well.

Dino who was on sports center last night talked about it. He said that he talked to Mack and Mack mentioned that you favor your strong leg more than your weak leg. He also said that the knee surgery also changed the way he walked too.

Hummel really can't catch a break. You gotta wonder how good he could have been without the past few season-ending injuries.

Wouldnt you think after tearing two ACLs that Painter would try to find Hummel a few more minutes of rest throughout the game? He was so fatigued that his whole body cramped. He played 35 mins tied for 1st on his team. Only TU played more minutes in the game at 37 and no one else on X played more than 29. Purdue went 10 deep. Just seems like they maybe could have gotten Hummel more rest when they were up big.

My cousin who is a Purdue alum said he missed most of the practices this week with an illness (he wasn't using it as an excuse, just told me after the game). He had an IV in on and off this week because of it. It really sucks for him with all the other problems he has had with injuries but I don't see this keeping him from playing the rest of the year.
