Looks like the Memphis losses and X's win should be enough to get X into the Top 10. I guess we will really see where this team stands on Monday night!

UNLV is giving UNC fits right now. I know that UNLV was supposed to be the class of the MWC along with UNM this year...but damn, they look good. Of course, when you've hit 10 threes with 10 minutes left in the game, you are going to look damn good.

It will be interesting to see if UNC wears them down these last 10 minutes. There is nothing to indicate that would happen, but UNC is starting to get their shit together.

UNLV up by 6 with 10:30 left.

Fun game. UNLV should run at least a little clock. They just jack 'em.

Looks like we have a new number 1. I wonder what week we will start getting first place votes.

New Mexico is terrible. If they were supposed to be the class of the MWC, they're failing miserably.

UNLV on the other hand, that was a great win.

I'm not making excuses for UNC, but I will say that I admire their early schedule. Five of their first eight games were away from home. One was against Michigan State on an air craft carrier, they then went to UNC Asheville for the opening of UNCA's new arena (I know the board of trustees that oversees both schools probably had a lot to do with that, but they still went). They played South Carolina and UNLV in Las Vegas, and they go to Rupp next weekend to play Kentucky. Some teams sit at home and play cup cakes in buy games. UNC does not. They play their share, but they also hit the road and play some real competition.

I know you weren't arguing with me....but the fact that you said they were terribe gave me pause as to my recollection on this.

I was at the Thomas and Mack Center last night as UNLV was beating UNC. Unfortunately the game was at the Orleans Casino and I was watching Mannheim Steamroller.

Wow.

Well, UCLA was ranked #20 to start the season. Sometimes the voters just miss really badly.

Had you told me San Diego State was going to be picked to finish third with all they lost I would've thought the voters were crazy. As it stands now, their only loss was at Baylor, and they have nice wins against USC and Arizona. So, go figure....

I think SDSU's win over Long Beach is a lot more impressive than beating USC.

I agree.

I can't help but think that Long Beach is turning back into Clark Kent. They're a good team, (and I know you'll appreciate this comparison) but they remind me of Darren Horn's Western Kentucky teams. They would have nights where they would take a heavyweight to the wall, and then the next night they'd stub their toes against a really weak team. Granted, they didn't just take Pitt to the wall this year. They beat them. But their encore was to lose two out of their next three.

SDSU is good, and Montana isn't bad, but you would expect an at-large caliber team to be able to win at Montana. Just sayin....

Having said all that, I completely agree. The win against Long Beach is better than the win against USC.

Certainly not a top 25 matchup, but Butler got smoked by the Hoosiers tonight. I know they struggled early last year, but I can't see this Butler team with that sort of turnaround. That's a game Xavier needs to win.
