Hope there is a decent turnout. It's not often you get a Stanford to come into Cintas.
Not a bad start! 11-7 Stanford.

Xavier's hanging in for the first 8 minutes - currently down 16-12.
X losing the rebound battle 11-5, though.

Stanford now up 33-28 with about 2 minutes to go in the half.
Both Moss and Holmes have 2 fouls apiece.

Stanford lead down to 1 - 33-32 at the half.
That's pretty good considering Xavier is on the short end of rebounding and turnovers. They're shooting about 47% from the field and are 11-11 from the foul line.

Can't ask for much more of this group in the first half. Great halves by Lynette Holmes and Jessica Pachko. I'm really excited this game is competitive.
The Ogwumikes will beat up just about anyone on the boards, so that's going to be a struggle. If we could limit those turnovers, it would help. Of course, Stanford also could start hitting those threes at any moment.
Still, this is a much better showing than last year's group made against Stanford!

Congratulations to Coach Waugh on her first career T. Clearly she wasn't happy with the last sequence where she felt one of the Stanford bigs had an over-and-back on an offensive rebound.

Haha, nice! I always loved Amy's moxy as a player.
Looks like Stanford is starting to pull away a bit.

Nnemkadi Ogwumike is taking over for Stanford inside now; Cardinal are up 48-42 (biggest lead was 9).

Score is now 56-50 Stanford; Xavier is on an 8-0 run with the elder Oguwmike getting a breather.

Final score in this one - 80-64 Stanford.
Ogwumike was just too much in the 2nd half for Xavier to overcome.

I was afraid the women were going to lose by 20+. Sounds like they played a gritty game considering what they were up against.

Attendance of 927. Yikes.

Attendance of 927. Yikes.
It looked much more crowded than that... I have NO idea how that could be accurate.

I was quite impressed with the effort today. I joked with my friends that we beat Stanford and lost to the Ogumike (sp?) sisters lol...
The older one was dominant. She totally just put her team on her back and willed them to a win. I honestly believe we had better players at every position except the two big girls. Lynette played a great game and started attacking a lot more which is what she's best at. Tyra had a great game. Amber Gray has some great moments and then some awful ones. I'm not sure I've seen a player make so many blantantly lazy passes in one game. Quite upsetting at times, but then two seconds later she makes a great play.
I know our record is 1-3 but we've already played the 2 toughest teams we'll play all year and I can see improvement in the team. Much better effort today than against Louisville.
I'm normally not for moral victories but I'll take this one.
