Please watch Renardo Sidney and make sure that he doesn't get in any fights in the stands during the UA-SJU game.

If he does, it's probably because he's trying to steal someone's hot dog.

Renardo Sidney shouldn't even be there. Akron should be there. I HATE that they've changed the format of that tournament. Last year, San Diego State "upset" Gonzaga, but since the semifinals are predetermined, Gonzaga went anyway. This is the second year in a row something like that has happened.

I don't think Akron is anywhere close to being as good as SDSU turned out to be last year, but the situation is similiar. They're a team that no one is really familiar with yet, and the "upset" win at Mississippi State wasn't an upset. Akron is likely a solid at-large caliber team that we may see in the rankings at some point this season. I don't think Mississippi State is. That wasn't an upset. On top of that, I do think the Johnnies and Arizona will improve tremendously as the season progresses, but at this point in time, I think Akron would have a shot at beating both of them.

So, because of a predetermined semifinal format, Akron, who is a better team and who would have likely brought more fans and put up more of a fight, isn't going to NYC. Akron deserves a chance to play quality competiton on a neutral floor and build their profile, and they're not getting it. I'd like to thank the Gazelle Group taking something that isn't really a tournament, and calling it a tournament anyway.

You are thinking way too much. The tournament is actually the 4 teams that were set to go to NYC. They then came up with a clever way to get those 4 teams a couple of "practice" games. Akron didn't have to play anyone to get at MSU, so it is not like the games at any of the 4 sites were part of a tournament.

The tourney is part of a major cancer fund-raising effort at each of the 4 schools. It just is what it is.

I don't know how many MSU fans are coming to the games, but what makes you think a ton of Zips fans would?

But it's not what it used to be. It's not as if this is a brand new tournament that didn't formerly operate the way 'brew describes.

Have they screwed up the Preseason NIT in this way, too?

CVC used to have 4 teams, 2 games, no winner. Then they added a championship game and consolation game. Then they went to 8 teams playing only one game with no champion. Now they have 12 teams from 12 conferences playing the way they do now.

The NIT Season Tip-off is 16 teams playing a true tourney format.

After Gardner Webb beat Kentucky, which was actually a really cool thing and something that actually made that tournament interesting, the Gazelle Group pretty much reformatted all its tournaments.

Having said that, they don't oversee the CVC tournament. I thought it was one of theirs.

I don't particularly like the Gazelle Group, and am exercising my right to be completely irrational and blame them anyway. Had the Gazelle Group not done it first, the CvC tournament wouldn't have done it either.

"Shades of Dante Jackson of Xavier four years ago!" I know Purdue isn't in the A10, but they just hit a half-courter in the Puerto Rico Tip Off to tie it at half against Iona. If they win they take on Temple.

Neither team seemed to play any d. PU was getting beat down the floor too often in transition. Iona's last play to Momo=weak.

St. Joseph's beat Georgia Tech in round 1 of the Charleston Classic. They'll face Seton Hall next. The Hawks look good.

Martelli is liked by the media. Throw in a good Majerus team, and the conference might have something..

UMass and Richmond win as well. 4-0 on the day. Hey hey. :p

Wanted to bring this to the top. MSU 69 TAMU 60, and it never was close.
