Long Beach State, our first round opponent in the Diamond Head Classic snapped Pitt's 58 home game win streak tonight, winning by 10.
This game might be a little bit more intriguing than once thought, even though I believe Pitt is overrated every year. Either way, nice publicity for them go into Pitt and hand them only their second loss ever on that court (86-2).

Long Beach looked pretty good. They will test us.

Completely agree. I was very impressed with them. Gonna be a tough game.

Not really a shock but a nice win. LBS is a good team and could create problems for teams in the tourney.

I wouldn't be shocked to see them make a sweet 16 run at all. Senior team that plays 5 teams in the top 14 this season. They won't be intimidated by the jersey they are playing. Their offense seemed to have a lot of movement and good passing, defense causes problems. Oh, and Ware could go off any minute.

They will be well tested when X plays them as well. They will have faced Pitt, Kansas and North Carolina prior to Xavier.

Hope we aren't overlooking that one. LBSU means business. If our guys are checking out the bikinis we could be headed for a quick exit from the winner's bracket.

They nearly beat North Carolina last year, but at the same time were beaten handily by other teams that were clearly weaker. They did blow through the Big West conference, but unforutnately lost in the conference tournament. Otherwise they may have gotten the chance to make a big team sweat.
It seems like Long Beach has one or two games a year where they play a heavyweight and hang in tough, but at the same time don't continue to match that level of play each and every night. Apparently they got over the top last night. Hopefully they're able to ride that momentum and stay consistent. If they do, a slipup in the conference tournament won't keep them out of the NCAAs this year.

It would appear our non-con just got a little more ridiculous.
