When Eron Harris visited Dayton last month, he raved about UD and planned to make a decision after he visited Evansville a couple of days later. It turned out he wasn't impressed with Evansville, and he seemed like a lock for Dayton - until he got a phone call from Huggins out of the blue.
The same scenario occurred a few years ago when Jacob Pullen seemed to be a lock for the Flyers (according to Pullen's coach)....until he got a call from Huggins.
It seems that if Huggy doesn't land his top targets, he just checks to see who we're recruiting. I'm sure that saves him a lot of recruiting time. The loss to the Flyers in the 2009 NCAA game (when our athletes played better than his) must have left an impression on him.

I wish Pullen had gone to UD. We would have been in the Final Four in '10.

Yes, that's it! Huggins just wants what UD is after since they upset his team in one NCAA tournament game. When does an 11 seed ever beat a 6 seed?! It's not like this guy has been to the Final Four or anything...
Coaches get lucky and make an impact late in the recruiting game all the time. This is not some anomaly isolated to UD and a former regional coach. I seriously doubt Huggins gives a crap about UD. He cares about recruits that he likes (as backup choices) that just have coincidentally been close to UD commits on two occasions. By the way, Morgantown, WV, is just like four hours away from Dayton. There's gonna be a tad bit of overlap in recruiting pipelines. And two recruits do not exactly provide a sample size large enough to suggest anything but a coincidence.

Poaching other recruits is certainly an efficiency.
Figure out a school who's recruiting style and evaluation you like. See if they like a kid who's probably underrated, and can be stolen by a bigger school. If they do/don't, that means you don't need to evaluate him as much, and can spend your time elsewhere on other recruits that you need more work on.

It's not called "taking", its called "help UD is recruiting me and Dayton has more toothless hicks than West Virginia!, come get me"

Im not a Huggins fan to say the least. I despise the guy and all that he stands for. He may be a "great guy" and supposed "mentor" or "father figure" to his players, but I'm not buying that.
But.......in the case of this thread.......
He's not doing anything different than any other coach in America.
It's sour garpes as far as I'm concerned.

Sour grapes I meant.
And yes, Dayton, their fans and the media are a bunch of cry babies.
If the Enquirer ever ran a story like this locally about another school "stealing " our recruits, I would be damn embarressed.

We lose a recruit, we move on sign someone else, win the A-10 and advance in the NCAA tourney.
