Hmmm.

A few months ago, Mr. Crean was apparently alledging that some unnamed schools may have not been "kosher" in their recruiting practice.

Well, well, well. Mr. Crean himself has committed a recruiting violation in his recruitment of Gary Harris. Somehow he "forgot" that the contact period ended on October 5. Well done, Coach.

Crean is a self-serving ass (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/7089990/sources-indiana-hoosiers-self-reported-violation-involving-recruit-gary-harris)

Crean woke up in the dugout wondering how it is that he struck out so badly in Bloomington. All the while he's jealously looking at our man Chris Mack on third base.

Although it's only a secondary violation, I call bullshit on this being an accident. The contact period is too stringently defined for coaches to not be diligent about the dates. I'm willing to bet that it was a strategic move: Sacrifice a couple days recruiting overall for the chance to get some more time with a star recruit you hope to land (and w/o other coaches around, because hey, they're not supposed to be). Just my speculation, but not a bad strategy honestly. Still shady though.

It would have been a good move if IU wasn't on probation until November

You mean good old Tom "clap and tan" Crean is not on the up and up?

It still doesn't seem like they're really going to get into too much trouble over this. Maybe the NCAA will surprise me.

Tom Crean is a douchebag. I know IU bends the rules giving away gear to recruits when they visit. If a recruit goes to an IU camp they end up with all kinds of Iu gear and shoes when they leave. So he can stand on top of his soap box all he wants, but he's full of sh*t.

I think with them already being on probation...even though from a previous administration, will cause the NCAA to be a little more punitive.

I kind of wonder how much more time Crean has at IU. This little incident may not have had a huge impact on their level of patience with him but I'm sure it didn't help.

So far his tenure at IU has been thoroughly unimpressive. It shouldn't be that hard to get IU back to the NCAA tournament. He has been there 3 years, and they have finished 11th, 9th, and 11th, in the Big Ten. His total record is 28-66. Even if the cupboard is bare when you take over, at a school like IU you should be able to get recruits that can compete at young age. If they miss the tournament this year I think that they almost have to fire him. If they do, they should hire Brad Stevens.

He has a highly touted recruiting class coming in next year, so he would probably at least make it to the 12-13 season. But if he fails with them he done.

He has 5 star Cody Zeller coming in this year. Next year he has 5 star Hanner Perea, 5 star Kevin Ferrell, 4 star Jeremy Hollowell and top 150 Ron Patterson. As much as I hate to say it, IU has good things on the horizon.

Now coaching them is a different thing. But good players can make an average coach look good.

Mo Creek is out for the year...again.

Heard a rumor that Watford who lead them in scoring and rebounding is hurt too.
