"The social network will now serve for each person who uses it as a chronological catalogue of events on a line, leading inevitably to death. This is the feature which has gotten the most attention, and I have much to say about it — such as the fact that I find it truly odd to encourage what I can only describe as “instantaneous” nostalgia about events which have just happened. But, in truth, Facebook has long been heading toward this use, and though I don’t really see the attraction personally, I understand that the need to document one’s life in detail has always been an alluring prospect for the human race. The fact that the Timeline is a dumbed down version of scrapbooking — usually the domain of retired people — is also odd to me, but I won’t pretend I don’t understand the draw."

Facebook is becoming downright unusable.

Back in my day, facebook was simple, and only for college students. I miss those elitist days.

Those were the best.

Everyone has hated most upgrades facebook has made over past 7 years. Yet it always seems to grow on everyone.

Does anyone remember the outrage when the newsfeed first appeared? Can you imagine facebook without it now?

Yeah I remember the "OMG What is this stalker feed?!?!?!" status updates. I like The Oatmeal's take on how people react to facebook changes: http://theoatmeal.com/pl/state_web_winter/facebook_layout

I have never been on this here Facebook thingamajigger. I guess I'm too old. I let the wife take care of that and let me know if anything interesting is going on with people we know (there never is - just "cute" pictures of kids).

It also could be that I don't have time for Facebook since I'm always here.

I'm convinced everyone on Facebook has a personal photographer whom they take on their vacations to capture action shots. Facebook is like one of those old Mt.Dew commercials. Seldom have I washed cars with gals in their Daisy Dukes.

I don't know anyone in reality having that much fun.

So to hell with all of ya and your airbrushed existence. Get down here in the muck with Garvin where it's grimy and hardscrabble.
