-Every few days, we have to stop obsessing over conference realignment and take a little time to watch this season's games.

-LSU at Mississippi State should be a crazy atmosphere, but it probably would have been even bigger had MSU not spotted fourteen points to Auburn last week. Still, it should be a fun one.

-Iowa State is actually getting votes in the polls. Their defense could certainly use some work. Whether they beat UConn or not won't change my opinion of them. They're not one of the 25 best teams.

-Boise travels to Toledo, who played Ohio State evenly last week and came very close to beating them. Had they won, the Glass Bowl would have been off the hook. It's not often that Toledo is unbeaten with a win against a ranked team on their resume, and hosting a top five team. The thing is, Boise is better than Ohio State, and I think they'll win rather easily.

-Stanford won't be tested often. I don't think they'll struggle too much at Zona this Saturday.

-Utah at BYU is no longer a conference game, but still a rivalry. BYU should have beaten Texas last week. Both teams are likely bowl teams, but that's not saying much since seventy teams will play in bowl games.

-Auburn at Clemson. It was an overtime game last year. It will probably be a typical Auburn game. They'll win either in overtime or on the last play of regulation again this week.

-Florida will get their first moderate test as they host Tennessee. Both teams are unbeaten and have looked good, but have looked good against teams that probably won't be playing in bowl games.

-UCF and FIU are both unbeaten. This is actually an intriguing game. I think both teams are for real and will be forces in their conferences. UCF cracked the rankings last year. FIU had thier first ever winning season last year. In fact they'd only won more than three games once since moving up to FBS prior to last year. With UCF coming in, it may be their greatest home atmosphere ever this weekend.

-Kansas and Georgia Tech are both undefeated, but also both untested, and Kansas still had some trouble against Northern Illinois.

-Louisville is at Kentucky, and the Bluegrass State will be transformed into a football state for one week. Neither team looks all that good, and it should be back to a basketball state in no time at all.

-West Virginia and Maryland is always a fun game. The way things are going this could turn into a conference rivalry once all the dust settles.

-Washington and Nebraska are both unbeaten. Fresno is a pretty solid team and they made Nebraska sweat a little bit last week, but the Huskers pulled it out. I don't know all that much about Washington this year.

-Notre Dame hosts Michigan State, and the way things are going Irish fans may want to brace themselves for being 0-3. I wonder who MOR is rooting for...

-I haven't seen much of Syracuse yet. I'm kind of curious to see what they can do out at USC.

-Oklahoma State visits Tulsa. It's great that Tulsa gets to host games like this. They never win them, and that isn't likely to change, but it is still good for them that Oklahoma and Oklahoma State give them home games every now and then.

-Texas is at UCLA. I've been very underwhelmed by both of them so far.

Forgot about Oklahoma and Florida State. That one is kind of big too. I think it's the toughest game on either team's schedule. Oklahoma does play TAMU, but that's a home game. Florida State also goes to Florida, but as tough of a game as that is, it's probably not as tough as this one. The winner will be on pace to win out.

Kansas still had some trouble against Northern Illinois.

That's not much of a criticism of KU. NIU won 11 games last year and was a 7 point favorite in Lawrence. That was a huge win for Turner Gil.

Wow. LSU's defense is awesome. I thought that they looked good on TV against Oregon. I saw them in person last night, and they are as good as I have ever seen. It looked like they had 12 or 13 guys on the field on every play. John Chavis was good at Tennessee. Now he has great athletes at every position.

I thought last year that LSU had the best athletes of any team that I saw play. I am sticking with that assessment until someone shows me better. I don't know if LSU is the best team in the country, but if you are better than the bunch I saw last night, you are really, really good.

The atmosphere was pretty wild. MSU is putting on a very good show for its fans. My LSU daughter poo-poos anything not done to Tiger Stadium standards, but even she was impressed.

I just like going to football games. I have done 2 Ole Miss and 2 MSU games so far. Both schools are roughly 1 hour away. Bama is 2 hours away, so it is a reasonable option for me as well, but getting tickets for them can be a bit dicey at times.

On the other side, I absolutely hate going to basketball games at MSU or Ole Miss, and that's sad, because I really do love watching college basketball live.

I am suitably impressed. Gladden has somehow hired AmeX as his editor.

Reps to AmeX for his excellent word useage in contextual sarcasm.

However, also reps to Gladden for his visual slam at the football bourgeois.

Luddite: A person who fears or loathes technology.

Luddites were a social movement of 19th-century English textile artisans who protested – often by destroying modern equipment that they believed was threatening their jobs.

And No-trees Dame beat Michigan State. Give 'em a cookie.
