View Full Version : Things You Have Done During the Off Season to Make Yourself a Better Fan!

I got my email today regarding the schedule! Super excited for this season. I will be watching most games from the comfort of my sofa, since little Lady Muskie has usurped my seat at Cintas. Still, I've done a few things in the off season to prepare for our upcoming Season of Glory.
I found (and I know this will thrill all of you guys on here the way it thrilled my hubby) blue nail polish for little LM and I to wear to games!
I bought several new t-shirts and sweatshirts for the hubby and I, as well as a couple of cute t-shirts for little LM. I also approved the purchase of a new cheerleading outfit for little LM from grandma and grandpa. I also bought the hubby two new X hats.
I worked with little LM (who will be 3 this season) on perfecting her X-A-V-IER cheer. We also worked on what to say when someone mentions the words "UC" or "Dayton". So now whenever she hears Dayton she says "Booo. Dayton. Dayton stinks."
We also have done so well with little LM that she recognizes Chris Mack and pointed at him when we saw him when we were out and about this year. Nothing makes a parent . . . proud or incredibly embarrassed (the emotions went back and forth) when a 2 1/2 year old keeps yelling "there's Chris Mack, mommy" "do you see Chris Mack daddy" over and over again.
I'm getting my cold out of the way early this year so there is no chance of me losing my voice mid-game early in the season like I did last year. I'm completely voiceless at the moment, so I really think that, in the off chance I get to go to a game, my voice will be well rested so that I can cheer the team on to victory.
Has anyone else been preparing?

Hacked DSR's phone so he can only get calls from the 513 area code.
Bought a nice X golf shirt on Ebay for $6.99.
Got the nice X shorts on Eastbay. Haven't seen my knees since.
Donated Watermelons to a UD fraternity.
Bought an old water fountain for later symbolic destruction.
Craved "UC Sucks" into a big tree in the yard. May donate to Dana's at later date.

I've been lifting weights- at the 12 oz and 16 oz level - to increase my arm strength to better execute the "Basket Good- And One" limb action.
I have also been heavily "hydrating". Never too early to train.
Finally, I have had a fresh coat of enamel applied to my bicuspids. That will expedite the "processing" of the raw meat that I routinely gnaw on before games.
I believe all of these actions will increase my endurance when the real games begin. I especially want to be in tip top shape for Gone-zaga on New Years Eve.
I hate them.......and it will be a marathon night.

I bought season tickets for the first time in several years....since my now 5 year old daughter was born. I have taken her to a game a season for the last couple years, but now I will take my little girl to several games this year.
I have taught my daughter to hate UC, as well as the Cubs and the Steelers.
I cannot wait for the season to start!

Moved my Sister in Law into the Commons
Finally graduated .....again....celebrated at Dana's.....again
Convinced my wife to buy me authentic game shorts as a part of my grad gift
Bought sweet X sweatpants and my wife another X t-shirt. Which means that she now has more Xavier gear than that of her institution (Miami)

Bought the Xavier golf bag. Purchased custom footjoys from their web-site: blue base/main color, grey saddle, white accent; match the bag very well. Broke 40 for 9 holes for the first time ever (2x actually). Coincidence, I think not.

It won't let me copy the image of the shoe, but I went with the Contour series, navy blue base, silver metallic saddle (it's not shiny don't worry) and the white accent.
Edit: Gray Smooth not silver metallic. They looked similar on my monitor.

Thank you.
where did you get the golf bag? Link please, Im in the market. Im hoping to get a new pair of shoes and golf gloves as well.
If I could just get a set of MOR Irons, I would be the hottest golfer in Columbus.

back on topic, I have worked on drafts of my season-opening Epic, Aeneas Was A Muskie, and will unveil it first for my Lew Hirt Society bretheren. Will soon write my first check for the LHS program ad.
It would be cool for Xavier Hoops to subscribe a page as well, hint hint. I think it could be done for under $25 per poster if we wanted to put it together.

I got the golf bag through the book store's web-site. You can find them on-line as well. They were all within $10 or so once you looked at the shipping costs the different sites charged so I figured give the money to the school rather than some random web-site.

Bought a blue Nissan Murano adorned with Xavier plates and bought a blue and white Crownline bow rider boat which I have accented with blue LED rope light in the gunwells which looks really cool when running at night. Reloaded my Xavier kegorater (It's a normal fridge that I repainted grey with a large handpainted X logo).

Everytime I think I am obsessed, you reel me back in and I realize I am fairly normal.
I have to admit the lights in your new kick-ass boat are way cool.
I'm on a mother f'ing boat!

I didn't cuss out Thad on my flight from Chicago to Columbus earlier this week. Sorry, that's about it.

I tried to knock up my wife so that I had a DD for this coming season, but she wasn't having it. Something about not wanting to see me naked and a vague cheese smell.
I still get credit for the attempt, though, right?

Didn't D&V have the name of Cheese before? Maybe there's a connection.
I pimped my ride with XU valve-stem covers. Very nice.

Bad move. No way do you want to deal with (even more) mood swings, hunger cravings, and a lack of...um...putting out during basketball season.
The mood swings are bad enough during basketball season

I don't know about better, but I'm working on bigger. I've packed on about 15 lbs since completing the half marathon in May.
