Didn't see any posts or comments about it.

Who watched their game against Miami last night?

Do you like their new look or was it over the top?

Medieval or muddled?

If they wanted everyone talking about them today, they seemed to have accomplished that.

I loved it.

If you've got the best state flag in the union...flaunt it.

If Xavier had a football team I would love them to have huge X's on the shoulder pads.

This is how I feel. Of course I'm biased, but Maryland has the best state flag by a mile. On top of that, I think this whole uniform thing and new marketing campaign, love it or hate it, is really bringing enthusiasm to the program. It would be great to see Maryland football separate itself as one of the perennial top ACC teams, and I think it's moving in that direction. The basketball team is on its way back to the elite level so it's nice to see the football program doing well too. Go Terps!

Thought they were hideous, sorry! Looked like someone threw up on them. I guess Under Armour is trying to make the Terps their version of Nike and the Ducks.

I really thought they looked silly, almost as if someone said, "How ridiculous can we make these things?"

If you look at Northwestern's basketball court, and Oregon's basketball court, and Oregon's uniforms, and Georgia's football uniforms from the other night, there seems to be a new movement in college athletics....To look as utterly ridiculous as possible.

Maryland's uniforms last night take the cake.

I don't understand how we can discuss Maryland football without discussing Maryland crabcakes. I thought those went hand in hand.

At the end of the day they got the job accomplished--people are talking about them. You have to give Kevin Plank props, because it clearly showed that Under Armour didn't care much about the actual appearance of the uni's, but EVERYONE was talking about them the night of, and day(s) after. And Under Armour was the base of all the talks.

That said, Maryland does have a badass flag. But it was a walking, talking, tackling marketing campaign. And it worked out pretty damn well.

If you guys think those uniforms are ugly, wait until you see the regular jerseys they will be wearing this year.

I thought the helmets were utterly genius. The shoulder things were overkill. But I absolutely love the helmet.

People were talking about OJ Simpson in the summer of '94, too.

These things were absolutely horrid. I like Maryland's state flag, and i am all about a state flag-themed uniform, but you could do so without making them into an uncoordinated mess. But hey, at least they have like 100 different combinations of "uniform" (kinda defeats the definition of "uniform", doesn't it?) to pick from for the rest of the season. The trends of college uniforms are out of control. And before someone says that it gets better recruits, I know. I just hate that, because we are marketing to people that simply have no good sense of athletic aesthetics.

Whoever created that plate-of-vomit uniform Maryland wore should be arrested and flogged in public.

I actually was eating Crab Bisque while watching the game. I'm so Maryland.

As far as the jerseys, there are actually no "regular" ones. They have enough different ones to not have to use the same ones twice and the captains get to choose which ones they'll wear each game. I love the helmets. The Maryland flag helmet was actually supposed to be worn by the lacrosse team this year. I remember my buddy being pumped for it, but then Plank decided that he wanted to wait to debut them for football. I wish they would wear them every game because those are some sick caps.

Love the helmets... but that being said.

This is exactly the sort of thing that drives athletic budgets through the roof.

I would be shocked if Maryland paid a cent for any of their uniforms. Like Oregon, they've got the apparel company sugar daddy footing the bill, don't they?

I assume they get some "help"... but don't they still have to pay for the actual uniforms? Maybe I'm completely wrong, but I assume each school has a line item for uniforms? I think Oregon is different as I think Phil Knight does gift those to the university.

They sure do. (http://www.inc.com/magazine/20031201/howididit.html)

Does anyone else think it's stupid that a UNIFORM won't be the same for more than one game in an entire season????!!1 AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd have to verify it, but I'm pretty sure everything is donated directly from Kevin Plank. I could find out, but first of all, I'm lazy, and second the easiest way for me to know for sure would involve making a call to someone I don't feel like speaking with. Maybe Maryland pays for something, but it's mostly coming from Plank.

There is no accounting for taste, of course. And yet..

I was a resident of MD during two of three years of grad school. PMI, with all due respect, it is one of the least appealing of state, or national, flags I've seen. It's like a bizarre optical illusion, gaudy and gauche, the type of show off stuff new money often flaunts.

If I stare at the flag long enough, however, I do detect an X emerging, triumphant.

As for the unis......the shoulder markings are the least offensive. None of them even remotely approach some of the fun stuff that Oregon wears. Final grade: fail.

I liked them. Maryland hands down has the best flag in the country. The rest of the country basically copies each other.

The only thing I would have changed would have been to either have all Baltimore or all Calvert helmets. Personally an all Calvert helmet would look awesome.

That's a winner right there. The only problem now is that we'll have several Oregon clones with about 30-50 different uniform combinations. Alas, not every team has the simplicity of Notre (honestly, No-tree?) Dame and Penn State.

A uniform is supposed to be uniform. This was an anti uniform, and it was horrific. I don't care how original it was, it was a publicity stunt, and I don't care for that. Some think it was great, but it's not like it's a week in, week out uniform. Georgia can be lumped into here too. Ridiculous.

Full disclosure, Im a big fan of Penn States uniforms. Classic. Unchanged and perfect.

By the way, Ohio has the most original flag in the nation. Anyone else know why?

I HATE dayton

Because someone took a bite off the end of it? Please, the Ohio flag is a knock-off of the US flag made by a guy with scissors.

Not to sound like a douche here, but Penn State did change their unis this year. They removed the white collar on the neck of their jerseys and white at the end of their sleeves that surrounded the arms.

Is that really why the Ohio flag is designed like it is? it has nothing to dpi with the singular pendant design.

It's about time Penn St. got rid of those gaudy, flashy, attention grabbing white collars.

But seriously. We have the greatest uniform matchup of the century coming up. Alabama/Penn St. Classy.

For your sake, I hope the Bama/PSU game isn't on at the same time as a Matlock or Murder She Wrote marathon. If it is, I'm sure you'll be able to read all about it in the newspaper the next morning as you take your meds and eat an entire container of prunes. Either that, or I'm sure one of your mall walking friends will be able to tell you about it...

For just $500 you can own one of those tacky ass helmets. For $200 you can own one of the jerseys. I heard they are auctioning off the gear and proceeds will benefit Maryland athletics.

Talk about a racket....You buy the gear from Under Armour (likely at a good price) then whore them out to the highest bidder at over 100% profit.

This is a GREAT country!

This is all well and good, I am just offended at the horrible final product that is the uniforms. Someone should have paid Maryland a bunch of money to keep those things off the field. I mean I understand that some people liked them, but they are just wrong.

Xavier auctions off jerseys from one game. I have heard Maryland has a different jersey for every game. Not sure if they will auction off all the jereseys and helmets from each game, but seems like a ton of money.

I don't have a problem with the practice, it is a creative way to generate revenue. But if Maryland does this all season, it seems like it will stack up to a hell of alot of crab cakes.
