I really hope the media somehow gets a hold of some video of this. Eff off China, Yao is gone and basketball is our sport

It ended up being 57 free throws by the Chinese team to Georgetown's 14, with a final score of 64-64. The officiating was ridiculously one-sided and the game then got pretty ugly.

fortunately no one was hurt for G Town. Sounds like it was some pretty bad officiating, but the fight is still some bad PR for G. Town.

I actually respect Georgetown more than I did before.

No kidding. I don't hold Georgetown accountable for what happened. It looks like some of the Chinese players were the ones to blame. I don't think anyone else would be interested in traveling to play such a team.

One of the articles I read stated this is pretty common and China has been fined several times due to the fights that routinely break out.

I can think of at least 30 countries I'd rather visit than China. I had a friend spend 10 days there about 3 years ago and he absolutely hated it. I'd say go somewhere else on your next b-ball junket.

Why couldn't they fight North Korea instead? I love hearing the spin from their side as to why they always lose big international matches - soccer, baseball, basketball, you name it.

This makes me nervous. When the inevitable WWIII breaks out between us and them, we better be ready because those bitches fight dirty!

Hopefully the Department of Defense is working on chair resistant flack jackets.
Those dudes look like bastards who would bring bats to a fist fight.

Wow, people are laughing and cheering. A Georgetown player is getting beat down while other Chinese players just stand there and wait to get their licks in. Damn.

I like the article on the unsportsmanlike bog on Cincinnati.com - the title suggests that Georgetown won't be invited back to China for any more games. Gee, I don't think Georgetown would come back, even if they asked very nicely. I just can't imagine any coach going to his AD today with an invitiation to play in one of these games, much less the AD approving it.
How long till China claims they won this game by virtue of the forfeit when Georgetown left the arena. If you can't win the game fair and square, turn to violence. Great.
The blog article says Georgetown had not yet decided if they would play the other games on this tour. The only game I would be playing right now if I were the Hoyas is "The Amazing Race: Fleeing China Editions"
And did I read that China had gotten 57 of 64 points at the charity stripe!!??!! And they were in what the fourth quarter? And some school's fans accuse US of working the chraity stripe for all it's worth. That means in 3+ quarters, they only managed to score 7 points from the field? (a 3 and two 2's apparently) In 3 quarters? This had to have been like sending our team to play an intramural team consisting of 5 people who had been pulled out of classrooms at random with the only qualification being they had never touched a basketball in their lives. (Hey even 5 total novices would score a basket or two in a game)
Were the refs paid by the trip to the free thow line? That can't have been a fun game to watch.
"And Goergetown player scores a basket, China with the ball, and what's this, a blocking foul and the Georgetown player called on the foul is at least 5' away from the guy!, oh well, a trip to the free throw line. It's a good thing these Chinese players are free throw shooting robots, otherwise this game would be totally out of hand. Goertwtown with the ball back, runs it up the court, and in the hole Three!" (Rinse and repeat)

2.Duke’s next great freshman made his debut in China this week during the Blue Devils’ exhibition tour, and although he did not manage to get into a chair-throwing brawl, he had his ups and downs. In two exhibitions against the Chinese junior national team, Austin Rivers had 18 points (8-15 FG) and five assists in a 77-64 victory Wednesday, followed by a 12-point (5-16 FG), seven-turnover performance in a 76-66 victory on Thursday. Duke won both games despite a herculean effort on the part of the Chinese referees (yes, we may have discovered the one place in the world…) — in their two games, China shot 72 free throws to a Duke total of 25, nearly a 3:1 ratio (you may recall that Georgetown got a little perturbed by a similar officiating pattern in its game on Wednesday). Notwithstanding the choppy play of Rivers, it has been Duke’s junior forward, Ryan Kelly, who has looked fantastic thus far. Kelly has averaged 17/11 while shooting a scorching 75% from the floor in the two games. Considering that China has significant size in its lineup and that the frontcourt represents Mike Krzyzewski’s greatest area of concern heading into next season, Kelly’s play is tremendous news for Duke fans worldwide.

China shot 57 FTs. They didn't make 57 FTs.

Also, according to this ESPN blog post (http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/34290/georgetown-brawl-in-china-is-a-sad-episode), Hawaii is loving it over there. They're trying to recruit the next Sim Bhullar (or Yao Ming if you like lesser players).

If any team travels to China again, they need to write it in that their conference will provide the refs. Otherwise it's a no go on that trip.
Also, my fiancee' has travelled to China on quite a few trips, to a couple of cities. She said that it's like any country she's been to, some cities are awesome, some are incredibly bad, especially Guangzhou which is really, really polluted.
I HATE dayton.

Link for the video of the fight. The G'town kids really looked like they wanted nothing with the fight until they were getting the shit beat out of them, then they defended themselves. That's a shame something like that happened.
