I happened to google Amy this morning and a really nice article came up from her hometown newspaper, thought I would share it with anyone interested. Tells a lot about our new coach!

The one thing that stands out in my memory about Waugh's playing days, The last year of her career, I was the floor announcer for the team, and got to watch her up close. She was absolutely fearless, tossing her body into bigger players all game long. She would get knocked down, over and over and over. Taking the charge, steaming into a defender often getting the hoop and the call. But every time she picked herself up, you looked at her thinkning she had finally done it, really hurt herself,, and then you saw her face, one eye closed, kind of like popeye, she would always let a little grin out to the bench, and we knew once again, her toughness brought her back up.
She was an amazing player, an amazing teacher as my daughter can attest (from XU camps) and i suspect her ability to motivate her fellow players will now translate into an ability to do the same with her as the head coach. I'm sure there will be some bumps, no one with a go getter personality like hers can go long without ruffling some feathers, I do hope the veterans and rookies will stick with her, because there's a rosy future ahead for Xavier womens basketball!
