Former UC basketball player pleads guilty

Former University of Cincinnati basketball player Anthony Buford, 42, and Jolie Neal, 47, both of Mason, pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to conspiring to defraud lending institutions out of nearly $2.8 million.

The duo obtained mortgages on three properties they owned and instead of paying off existing loans, kept the money, according to court documents.

At the time, Buford worked as a mortgage broker for Dynus Financial Services, which had offices in Bond Hill and Fairfield. Neal owned Tri-State Title Company.

The single count of conspiracy to commit mail, wire and bank fraud carries a maximum prison sentence of 30 years, a hefty fine and mandatory restitution. U.S. District Court Judge Sandra Beckwith will set a date for sentencing.

How does one think they are going to get away with that? I am puzzled by people sometimes.

Let me preface this by saying that I dont like Anthony based upon some "events" a few years ago between him and some friends of mine.

That being said-the guy is an arrogant SOB. He probably felt he was too "smart" to get caught and now his ass will belong to some dude named Bubba. Serves him right.....

Anthony always claimed that espn wasn't interested in him because he didn't go to Duke.

Maybe it was because he's an idiot.

Anyone ever tally how many of "Huggin's guys" are in jail?

It depends: Are you including the ones who were never charged or indicted because Prosecutor Deters sat on UC's Board of Trustees? If yes, the number makes Tarkanian's programs look like Coack K's.
