Ce'Dra Evans commits

Ce'Dra Evans, the 6-foot-4 post from Toledo, Ohio, told ESPN HoopGurlz she has verbally committed to Xavier. She also considered interest from Houston, Miami, Oklahoma, and Syracuse.

"I took an unofficial visit when I was in Cincinnati visiting friends and coach (Amy) Waugh spent several hours with me and showing me around campus, I felt good about everything right from the start," Evans said. "I felt comfortable with the coaches right away and couldn't find one thing that I didn't like."

Evans is the first 2012 commitment for new Xavier coach. Waugh was previously an assistant under Kevin McGuff, who left to take the job as Washington earlier this spring.

I don't know a lot about 2012 Women's recruits, but a 6'4 post player sounds like a pretty nice start. Coach Waugh is gonna keep this program in great shape, she's a wearitallonthesleeve type competitor and has had a chance to learn the game from some very good coaches.

This is a very good sign. I was not expecting any commitments until much later down the line. One thing stuck out to me -- Ce'Dra noted that she didn't see anything that she didn't like.
