This is an interesting move. I guess he wanted to get out of dodge before he got fired. Although, he finally lead Penn St. to the tournament this year it seems like he might still have been on the hot seat.

Billy and Juwan Staten looking pretty stupid.
This is a really weird move. The guy is leaving his alma mater in the Big Ten to take the same position at one of he worst jobs in college basketball. I guess he's just trying to get one step closer to being an associate head coach in the Big East. Very curious move and it makes you wonder what's really going on in State College.

Simple case of getting out while there was still a way out.
This is staying one step ahead of the Grim Reaper. Penn State got to the Tournament, but they had nothing coming back and DeChellis was in the last year of his contract with little talent help coming. A bad record and the subsequent pink slip was in the offing- for sure if PSU wouldn't agree to a contract extension now. Apparently they would not.
It is becoming abundantly clear now that the true length of a contract is two years less than the real expiration when it comes to recruiting. If you are recruiting a kid and your contract doesn't last as long as his projected career at the school, you are in trouble. When you get to your last year, and unless you have a stud team in place, you'd better find the Golden Pillow to land on after bailing.

Should I feel bad for this kid?
Probably not.

Hm. Apparently Staten is waffling about his commitment to PSU now.

Would be funny to see if Staten could handle the discipline level at Navy.
Oh wait...he wouldn't pass the physical exam after Tu broke his ankles last year.
SNAP (literally)
